Greater Antilles Beach Holidays

I liked the entertainment every night, but did not like the communication about events that were going on around the resort, there was none. Didn't like the lack of restaurants open every night. Only one open at the most. All restaurants were very warm and uncomfortable to eat in. We left the Italian restaurant the first night because it was so warm. When we went the next night we were told they were only serving wine and beer, but then saw many people getting mixed drinks. Waiters seemed confused most of the time of who came in the restaurant first. Really disliked being bombarded and pressed to listen to the timeshare speech, we just wanted to relax and enjoy our time.

We came to Excellence El Carmen for our honeymoon! We had one initial hiccup with some racists, less than classy wannabe African American gangster guys and wives. It was like stare down and intimidation for hours just because my Caucasian husband was happy and dancing. I don’t know who comes to a classy resort and acts like this, it was ridiculous to the point I had to call Excellence security fearing these racists would jump him and I in their night club. I am also of color by the way, just appalling behavior. Fortunately for us, we had people backing us up saying we did absolutely nothing, issue was solved and the racists left the property very soon after. Then the vibe at the resort was peaceful and classy for the rest of our 7 night and 8 day stay. Our room was stunning, we booked a Private Pool and deck. We were in Building 11 near the Excellence Club members exclusive pool. The rooms are generous in size, the private pool we used everyday. It was beautiful, clean and peaceful. The room service was perfect, immaculate and the friendliest staff we’ve ever experienced. Food was good, for a resort it was one of our best experiences ever. I mean some expectations should be lowered, if you expect every dish to turn out great then perhaps all inclusive is not the way to go. We travel both to Four Seasons, Fairmont hotels and all inclusive resorts. Excellence El Carmen was amazing for food for an all inclusive, especially The Grill and Chez Isabelle for dinner.

It was okay but some of the people are really rude

This hotel was hands down the best I have stayed at in Punta Cana. As a solo traveler, I always felt welcomed! Loved the fact that they have a vegan menu at all of their restaurants which I so appreciated! Service is top notch and the resort surroundings are well kept and beautiful! I was welcomed with a bottle of champagne in my room. Although everyone was so helpful and attentive, one person that made my stay that much more enjoyable is Santa, restaurant supervisor. She is amazing and went above and beyond to make sure I was always taken care of. This is more of a quiet vibe, not a party resort which I welcomed so if you want a quiet and serene getaway, this is the resort for you! I will be back for sure!

Sick from the food and very cheap alcohol. Staff slams doors 5-6am.

Overall, my experience at this property was pretty good. Most of the restaurant food that was cooked to order was great but buffet meals (e.g., marketplace and seaside) as well as the sports bar were terrible. It was very evident a lot of the food was old/expired and the breads/dessert were clearly reheated multiple times and well past their prime. Considering how much the resort costs this should never happen as it could cause food-borne illnesses. The staff and property were amazing though the checkin process was quite slow. The activities, however, were very lack luster and mostly boring. Overall, I had a decent time but will probably not return.
