The rooms were ok. The staff was great!

The apartment was clean and spacious. The staff was so kind and willing to help. The included breakfast basket was nice as well. I would stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Iceland.

We had the half board option and the quality and choice of the food was exceptional. The rooms were large by Icelandic standards and were very clean. The staff were friendly. A lovely stay, would come again. Unfortunately the spa was out of action due to refurbishment. However, this was not an issue.

This really did not look, feel, or operate like a 5 star hotel. Rooms are not soundproofed and have wood floors so light sleepers beware. The design of the rooms was advertised as a selling point but the room was quite bare and felt like any other Marriott. In the bathroom, the shower is not separated at all from the rest of the bathroom (no glass, wall, or curtain), so water gets everywhere (and we were careful to try to keep the floor dry). It's literally a shower head right next to the toilet -- such an ill-conceived, poorly-arranged setup. The restaurant had a somewhat limited menu and the staff, though pleasant, were awfully forgetful. We had to ask for the bill 3 times and one of the dishes I ordered never arrived. You have to pay to access the spa, which is a strange policy that I've never encountered at another hotel (and I've traveled to 25+ countries). The staff were the highlight of the stay as they were all quite friendly, but the property and amenities are overrated and woefully overpriced. You can get the same service and much nicer rooms at the hilton for literally half the price. Also, the entrance to the hotel is at the back of the building and many tours aren't able to pick you up there, so you'll have to walk to a bus stop for many pickups.

ODDSON Downtown is a perfect option for those looking for a quiet, understated but still comfortable and cozy stay in Rvk. If you're an ambitious walker like me who prefers privacy and adventure, this location is excellent, with easy access to 24 stores, groceries, bus stops, and dinner options. There's usually parking in the area, even if it's not the ODDSON spaces, but be careful to avoid the reserved spots directly next door. The kitchen is perfect, the bathroom is small but clean, and the bed is super cozy. With Icelandic heating, you can keep a window open at all times, which feels refreshing. The staff are responsive, my only complaint is the late check-in time, so definitely recommend booking the day before you arrive if your flight lands early in the morning.
