"Liverpool visit with my Dog JD"
Great hotel that is perfectly located for everything you need in the City. It is basic and good value for money. Free parking and Cafe Bar on site should you choose to use it. Just a few minutes walk from Albert Dock and Liverpool One. The Cathedrals are just that but further away when walking, but well worth a visit. The hotel is perfectly situated for anyone traveling with their dog. Great for walkies and right on the waterfront. JD, our terrier, took his basket and toys and had a great stay. We asked if we could be away from the entrance so he would not need to be bothered by any coming and going noises and they were fine (so was JD).

"Clean and comfy rooms in a kinda sketchy building"
My friends and I stayed at this place 2 times within a week in December 2014. There are rooms to accommodate 1, 2, and 3 adults. The rooms were either renovated very recently (as of the time of our stay), or have always been well-maintained: they were very clean, and everything in them worked perfectly. The rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi, password-secured (not using MAC-address filtering!). This means that you can connect your streaming media-players like Chromecast to the room's big-screen TV and enjoy Netflix or other quality online content, instead of the numerous ad-overloaded satellite channels. The rooms we stayed in were facing the pub across the street, so some loud entertainment was filling the rooms until 1 AM. The rooms have traditional British two-fauceted sinks, which are ridiculously inconvenient for us Americans. The check-in took 3 minutes or less (sign the form, get your key, and you're done!). For the check-out, you simply drop off your key in the box on the wall on your way out.

"A welcoming, friendly place."
I was visiting Birkenhead, to meet my Son, and found The Black Lions Guest House. I was lucky to have discovered it. The hotel is situated on the New Chester Road, in Rock Ferry. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I arrived very early. I was dreading having to ask if my room was ready at 10.30 a.m, but Nick, the owner, was absolutely fine with the situation, and was so accommodating (The website mentions 2 p.m. as the earliest booking in time, but if you e-mail Nick beforehand, he will do his best to fit you in) The room was en-suite and was clean and well provisioned with the basic requirements. Nick was only too glad to furnish me with the local travel options as well as directing me to a local pub who were known for excellent pub meals. Breakfast was beyond reproach, and a full English with Coffee was wolfed down. (Again, Nick was always ready to fulfil any reasonable request. At one point,I ran out of milk, tea and sugar, a quick word with Nick and I was replenished. :-) ) Again, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to leave in the early evening of my second day there, but will certainly be re-visiting in the near future.

"Close to Widnes Runcorn Bridge"
Having read some of the reviews on this hotel I wasn't expecting much, but actually it was much better than I thought. The room was actually quite nice, with a reasonable telly and an ensuite, and was very clean. Check in was done at the pub and then I was taken up to the room. Breakfast was minimal help yourself (cereal and fruit), but I didn't really need that. The bus stop is about a 10 minute walk under a tunnel to the bridge slip road. Warning: the bus to Liverpool takes over an hour! The only problem that I had was with the keys: I struggled to open the outside door, and eventually the barman had to let me in, and then I struggled to close my room door. For check out you leave the key in the room door.

Grosvenor House - Liverpool Hotels

Grosvenor House

6 Ancaster Road, Liverpool - Map

On arriving at the location it was hard to park as this is a residential road with only road side parking. The front of the house look uninviting, but once inside it was much better. The rooms were clean and tidy.It was nice to be supplied with tea, coffee and milk. The kitchen was well supplied. The only snag was the bathroom although it was clean it was the only one in the house for six letting rooms possibly for 12 people. We did not meat any one as you are given a code to get in and any inquires are done on the phone saying this the owner was helpful.
