"The reception staff was very friendly. However the room was a disappointment. There was not toilet paper, the sheets were dirty and stained. I had to use a towel on the bottom sheet and slept in my clothes. I booked for two nights and stayed one night and checked out. The location was nice very close to the beach and local restaurants. I would not recommend staying here. "

"Really sweet spot just off the beach up a commerce alley. Jishnu the host was very nice and helpful with getting comfortable. Hot shower if you want it - but I’ve learned to love taking cold showers here - and the bathroom was perfectly clean and well appointed. I will be back here at the Gypsy next year for sure."

"A nice break from a very busy Varkala. Best if you have transportation. The natural setting is calm, and it's worth exploring the beach across the waterway, accessible via kayak or 2km walk."

"We came for a week and booked three more! It’s such a special place❤️ The staff treats you so well and looks after all your needs. It’s far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the cliffs but yet a short walk if you want to venture out for a meal. The beach is fabulous and the Arabian Sea water is so warm and therapeutic. Afternoons are often spent around the pool with a book. They’ve just built a fabulous Ayurveda clinic a stones throw away and the massage was excellent. I can’t say...

"The Thiruvambadi is a great hotel. It’s in a convenient spot at the very end of the cliff ‘strip’ so, if you turn left out of the hotel, you’ve can walk along the clifftop past lots of shops and an endless choice of restaurants. However, turn left and you’re soon wandering along quiet, picturesque beaches. The aquarium’s good too. "Not worth the almost $80 a night charge for a room that's old and mouldy with no air conditioning in the heat of Kerala. Much better options available elsewhere in this town for the same price and even less where you can find better conditions with professional and courteous staff."
