The church dates from around 1200, with further work in the 15th century. It was restored in 1863 by Ewan Christian. The church is built of Greenstone and has a western bellcote, nave with north aisle, chancel, south porch and vestry. The west end of the church has a large buttress supporting the bellcote with windows either side. The nave and aisles have been rebuilt in 1863, the chancel has mediaeval fabric with brick patching, the east window dating from the 15th century. The three Bay north arcade dates from around 1200 but the piers and responds have been rebuilt in the 19th century. The roofs and fittings are 19th century including the font. On the east wall of the nave are fragments of an early 13th century carved cross. The chancel still retain some mediaeval fabric and the east window dates from the 15th century. The south porch dates from the 19th century, as do the fittings and the roof. The screen was reconstructed in the 19th century and contains some 15th century panels. There is also a 12th century octagonal font which was recovered from below the altar in 1930. There is also a modern font with wooden cover. There is a small one manual organ. There is no stained-glass in the church. In 2008 there was an earthquake in Lincolnshire which caused damage to the bellcote. This had to be removed in rebuilt at a cost of some £23,000.

Grade II listed The church dates from the early 13th century onwards, and was restored in 1859-61 by Ewan Christian. It is built in green sandstone and has a west tower with spirelet, nave with north and south aisles, chancel with north and south aisles, north porch and vestry. The tower dates from circa 1200, and was remodelled in 1861. The upper part is from the decorated period. The nave arcades are of five bays and date from the early 13th century. These were restored in 1861. The chancel has 15th century arcades, two to the north and three south, again heavily restored. The chancel arch dates from the Victorian restoration. The reredos also dates from this time, and is by C. E. Giles. There is a Memorial brass to Sir Lionel Dymoke, died 1519, he was knighted at Siege of Tournai, and was Sheriff of Lincolnshire 1516. On the wall of the south aisle are mounted 13 scythes, which were thought to have been used in the Lincolnshire rising of 1536, although this is unlikely , despite Horncastle being one of the centres of the rebellion. There are several stained-glass windows, with some by Heaton Butler and Bayne, and one by Preedy. The church pipe organ was recently replaced with a new digital version. The freed up space has been converted into a Coffee area.

"The staff were very friendly. Last minute I had to change my arrangements and the staff accommodated this which I was grateful for as the hotel was busy at this time of year. The room was clean and comfortable. As was the restaurant and bar. Not too much noise so enjoyed a good sleep. Perfect location and would stay again. The only thing I would say is that the water pressure and temperature in the shower are not great. Other than that was a great stay. Thank you "

"Pleasantly surprised and would highly recommend. Room was spacious and clean. Loved the wines glasses! The breakfast was perfectly adequate and the shared kitchen clean and pleasant to sit in. We paid for carpark and were allowed to leave car the next for a visit of the city. A nice 20 minutes walk along the canal. Host very prompt and polite by text once we had booked. Great price for the convenience and facilities. Thank you ☺️ "
