"I booked the Allen Hotel for the first time online through Expedia. Let me tell you, the pictures are deceiving and need to be updated as well as the hotel itself. I got a room with a king size bed. They gave me a room on the first floor which had some kind of run down restaurant or bar attached to it that had a door that led to my room. Both doors to the room and that run down bar/ restaurant didn't lock at all. I asked to switch rooms because I didn't feel safe. They said I would be charged an extra 25 dollars a night to switch rooms, which they called upgraded. I got to the room and it was a room with two double sized beds and a much smaller room then the one prior. So I was being charged for a down grade in actuality. There was a good sized booger on the wall. The wall paper was old and peeling off the walls. There was a blood stain on the blanket and the sheets had a hole in it. The blankets smelt and felt dirty as well. While I was there they were also working on the elevator which was a bunch of loud banging. I had to use the staircase to go up and down to the fourth floor with my things. I dont recommend this hotel and I wouldn't book it again ever."

"Had to switch rooms cause there was hair on my pillow in my first room. Also paid more for a higher floor only to be told the high floors have major noise issues because of the rooftop bar Mr. Purple. Rooftop was a vibe! Rooms were basic, but 4th floor was quiet. Overall, very okay stay, nothing good nothing too bad."

"This hotel is unstaffed - you will be send codes to access the room and front door upon check in. Given that there is no support if you need anything. The location is great, but it is loud. I stayed in two rooms - the ones that face 1st Ave an incredibly loud. The hotel provides ear plugs, but if you are a light sleeper it will be almost impossible to sleep. The rooms facing 9th are significantly quieter. Overall the rooms are ok - the beds are comfortable and have nice light given the windows. The sink in my bathroom did not drain and the shower leaked all over the floor, which was unideal. The fridge was also rattling all night, so much that I had to unplug it. The ideal of the hotel is nice, and the location is great but the rooms needs a little bit of care and there needs to be a clear process if you need support given there are no staff on site. "
