"Room was not ready on arrival had to wait 45 minutes to get in which after a long drive was not ideal. Reason we chose this hotel was the 2pm check in time. Carpet was all ruffled and stretched out, bed was on an angle. Could do with updating"

The Ferryhill House Hotel

"Our stay was enjoyable. Check-in was a bit confusing, as we weren't told to check in at the bar when we called the day before to confirm our reservation. We booked a twin room, which was a great size and not cramped. The room and bathroom are modern compared to the rest of the hotel; it was like stepping back in time in the hallway and stairway. We read a lot of negative reviews for the food, so we were a bit cautious. However, the food from the bar was quite nice. We did not try the restaurant. Breakfast was included and had a nice variety of options. We had the Ferryhill breakfast, which included eggs, potato rashers, beans, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon, and sausage. For dinner, we had 3 orders of salt-and-pepper starters, 3 mains, and a dark chocolate brownie for dessert. The steak in the steak-and-ale pie was a bit tough, but overall it was tasty. The steak frites were underwhelming, rarer than medium, and lacked seasoning. The broccoli we ordered as a side was al dente. The salted caramel ice cream was AMAZING!!! In general, everything was good for typical pub food. We also enjoyed a round of Old Mout ciders. I loved the pineapple-and-raspberry cider, and the berries-and-cherries cider reminds me of a wine cooler. Overall, we were quite pleased with what we had for dinner for £100. We didn't really have any negative experiences to comment on, but there were minor issues."

"A really lovely stay - bed super comfortable. Staff at check in very good. I stayed in club deluxe room - room was stunning. All feedback was on the second floor no elevator and I had a really heavy case - however staff helped me. No mirror to blow dry hair - however I mentioned to reception, they said they had mirrors there I could use - perhaps be helpful to mention at check or simply put in room to anticipate the needs of guests. All in all fantastic hotel will definitely be returning."

"A great place for families to stay with lots of lounge space for visiting with family and games for kids. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the location very convenient. Our family suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable. My only recommendation (as a parent with small children) would be to add a small fridge to keep snacks/drinks/leftovers cool. A wonderful stay!"
