The Neighborhood:
The village of Embleton can be traced back to beyond medieval times and during the Wars of the Roses, it suffered much from the ravages of Scottish invaders. Today, ancient castles and ruins stand testament to Embleton's turbulent past; the Church of Holy Trinity is a late-Norman church, dating from the 12th century, later to be restored in Victorian times. Viewed from the sea, the undulating whinstone ridge that shelters much of the village from east winds, resembles a caterpillar, hence the old name 'Emeldune', meaning the hill of the caterpillar. The rolling countryside means that golfers can enjoy a good 18-hole links golf course that overlooks the beautiful Embleton Bay. Recently launched is the Embleton Heritage Trails Project, consisting of six trails, ranging from a short walk around the village, to a longer six mile route, following the spectacular coastline and inland into the tranquil countryside.

Fantastic house but you would think it would have a secure garden for the toddlers and dogs. Photos show gardens but you cant see that they are all open plan.
Great location, wonderful views from the house. House was spacious, great size for 4 children, 6 adults and 2 dogs! Swimming pool was great! Modern facilities and very clean. Good walking straight from the cottages and access to the beach.
But the time slots for the pool was limited and if all the cottages were occupied not everyone would get chance to use it each day as the time slots were hourly.
Also, it was closed all afternoon one day a week for maintenance and another few hours another day for other works, both of which should occur in the evening.
Time slots would be better for 40 mins so each family get to use the facility.
No salt/ pepper, tea / coffee, sugar provided
which is common practice in self catering
cottage’s Ive stayed in, and no suitable washing up cloths.
Not enough pots and pans either for a family of 10.
There really needs to be a gate too at the entrance to the properties as the road is very close and although quiet, there are very fast vehicles travelling along it periodically, making it dangerous for children and dogs should they get out if a door was left open accidentally.
Great property and superb location for our annual family long weekend. Loved the large lounge and all of us being able to sit together, same with the kitchen too. The use of the swimming pool was a great activity for us too and impressed with the cleanliness of the facility.
