'The Stables'. A lovely stone built cottage in the small village of Powburn.
Powburn is at the foot of Northumberland's Cheviot Hills. Our cottage is very near the turn off for Ingram valley. Both country and coast are easily accessible. Numerous castles on the fabulous Northumberland coastal trail frequented by walkers and cyclists are on your doorstep, as well the large cities of Newcastle (50 mins) and Edinburgh (1hr 30mins). It is a fabulous area for walking cycling or exploring by car. Great cycle and walking routes are accessible straight from the front door. The Alnwick castle made famous by Harry Potter is 8 miles away. Alnwick also has a pool and leisure centre. 5 minutes walk takes you to the nearest shop for provisions, there is even an extensive antiques emporium there as featured on the BBC antiques road trip program. Our property was originally used as a stable and was converted many years ago into a 2 bedroom stone built cottage. The cottage is situated in a gravelled square, away from the road. It can accommodate 4 people, is centrally heated by LPG and has a combi boiler supplying heating and instant hot water, this is included in the price. There is a comfortable cosy lounge with open fire and 32ins HDMI TV with freeview and a DVD player that also plays video tapes! We have wifi broadband too. There is an Initial supply of wood and coal for the fire and a small selection of card and board games suitable for all ages there for your use. There are 2 bedrooms of similar size one with a king size bed and the other has 2 single divans, suitable for children or adults, which can be pushed together to make another large double bed if desired. There is good storage for clothes and suitcases in the bedrooms from inbuilt cupboards. Parking is no problem for cars or a camper van if you are touring. There are 2 outbuildings which can provide secure outside storage for 4 bikes. The kitchen is well equipped including a microwave, electric oven fridge freezer and washing machine. There is a small table which can seat 4. The bathroom is downstairs and it has a shower over the bath. All bed linen and a large and small towel are supplied for each person. There are numerous tourist attractions in the area and we have many leaflets available for your use. The nearest pub is in Glanton, a 3 minute drive or 30 minute walk. There is a children's play park one minute walk away. With swings, climbing frames, and a zip wire!

We loved this little converted stables. The conversion is to a high standard, everything works! Especially effective plumbing and heating which was essential during a cold December/Jan stay.
Good location in terms of doing local walks or visiting local places of interest within easy striking distance. The coast only a short drive away. Quiet and comfortable. The limited outdoor space might be a slight disappointment for some in warmer months. Matt, our host, was very warm, welcoming and flexible with our delayed arrival.
This was a lovely clean and well-equipped property in a nice peaceful area with a garage within walking distance which stocked anything you could possibly need. It was in a good position for exploring the Cheviots and the Northumberland coastline and the hosts were very helpful.
Really comfy cottage, lovely bed and a fab shower. Matt welcomed us and was helpful and friendly. Sitting four people in the kitchen would have been a bit of a squeeze but it was just us, so perfect.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage which used to be stables and is in a village which we found to be really peaceful and within easy reach of the coast and local attractions such as Alnwick Castle and the wonderful Alnwick Garden close by.The house is very comfortable and so nice to have an open fire for chilly evenings, very well equipped and central heating too.Garage ten minute walk from house good selection of food, drinks etc everything for your needs so no need to go looking for supermarkets.Situated within easy reach of the coast and the countryside is stunning eg a walker’s paradise and so happy we found this lovely place in Powburn.Owners were very helpful and were on hand if we had any concerns which was reassuring. Thank you Matt and Lindsey this long awaited break since lockdown has been much appreciated.
Lovely 2 bed cottage in Powburn on edge of Northumberland National Park. Superb location for coast and inland. Cottage was very clean and well equipped. Couldn't have been better. Would highly recommend it.

Lovely autumn weekend away
Enjoyed returning to this lovely cottage. Appreciated lighting the open fire in the evenings. Very helpful owner - responded to a minor issue at the cottage in just 30 minutes! Would highly recommend for a break in the lovely Northumberland countryside 😊
Great cottage with every thing you need for a relaxing break. Off road parking in a quiet village but close enough to Alnwick ,Seahouses and Bamburgh . Very friendly welcome , our 4 year old Grandson loved the biscuits ! Thanks ,we hope to return with our youngest Grandson.
A cosy, little gem, a home away from home perfect for me, my husband and our 2 young girls (8months & 3yrs). Ample space in the twin bedroom to set up our travel cot for baby. A high chair was provided.
Very well equipped kitchen for our self catering needs. Lovely modern bathroom. Comfortable lounge.
We used the wee park that is a few mins walk from the cottage...great to have close by for younger kids.
There is a convenience shop a bit further along the main rd next to caravan site which sells basic essentials, some meats and they get fresh bread in daily.
The cottage was a great base to explore northumberland from. We had such a good stay we will be booking it again.

Fabulous cosy cottage
A really lovely cottage to stay in. Contemporary interior but still retains a cosy feel with everything you might need and super comfortable bed. Within easy driving distance of everything we wanted to see and do. Matt met us on arrival and then left us to enjoy our stay.

Perfect Retreat
The cottage was an ideal base for our stay as we visited nearby attractions. It was well equipped, cosy and well away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist hubs. The owner Matt was very helpful and accomadating. Would highly recommend and revisit.
