The Amalfi Coast is a rugged coastal area, with ancient ruins, towns, villages and vineyards crowning the rocks. Villas and churches sit on cliffs, beside sheer drops straight into the sea. Travel the coastal roads and round every bend on the 45-kilometer coastal road you’ll encounter yet another spectacular view.
The Amalfi Coast has enjoyed a reputation as an exclusive residence for the wealthy and famous. As such, you will find exclusive bars, restaurants and hotels, but that doesn’t mean the area doesn’t cater for the budget traveller too, with plenty of charming bed & breakfasts on offer.
For most visitors relaxation is at the top of the list. The beaches are narrow, popular and often very busy. The coastline is dotted with small coves, which are usually difficult to reach from land, but are great to explore by boat.
Along the coastline there are many hiking trails to be followed, where you can explore the region’s unique nature. One of the most popular and least strenuous is the "Path of the Gods' - all you need is a good pair of walking shoes!
Want some natural beauty with a little less effort? Then the gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo are perfect. Stroll leisurely through the terraced gardens, which have been constructed high above the sea. The gardens are filled with thousands of flowers and offer beautiful views of the coastline below.

This is the best choice in positano for a modern contemporary hotel-maybe the only choice. Rooms and linens were very good to great. Rooftop pool was awesome. View was to die for. However ten minute drive from the town or 25 euro. There’s a shuttle or a walk down steps that takes 15 minutes, just ...
Gorgeous views high up above Amalfi, away from all the hustle and bustle of the crowds perfect place to relax. The staff were so exceptionally courteous and were always available for our needs. Furthermore they seemed more then happy to be there, which to me adds to my enjoyment of a facility.
