Cairn Hotel
8/10 Good
"Lovely hotel in high victorian/Edward inn style. It was very busy because it was the Great Yorkshire Show week. The staff were very friendly in the bar but the reception staff seemed a bit pushed with how busy it was."
DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel & Spa
8/10 Good
"The main parts of the hotel were very well presented and the dining facilities were beautiful. The bedroom was a little tired and didn’t match expectations from the photos online. The view from the room was very good and the room was fine but it had no wow factor as other Hilton’s have had when we have stayed there. The bathroom was fine but windows and floors felt a bit tired. Disappointing to see that even the 2 bottles of water in the room were not free unless you were a Hilton member. All the little niceties of staying in a hotel have now gone and it now feels like only the basics.
Food was amazing and staff were all really friendly and helpful. Cannot fault the restaurant or staff (apart from the automatic service charge which was added to the bill and was around 15%!) we would have tipped anyway but this felt sneaky and rude on the part of the hotel (not the individual staff)."
"Superb location beside the canal.
Conservatory restaurant overlooking beautiful hillside and the canal and serving full selection of food at moderate price. Lovely evening meal.
Breakfast was excellent.
Relaxing lounge with entertainment very much enjoyed.
Room was very small and in need of an upgrade but we understand this is ongoing. A box of tissues would have been a useful extra. Bed very comfortable and room quiet.
Staff all very hardworking and skilled at their job. A very enjoyable night’s stay."
"Overall good overnight stay. Clean, comfortable bed;
The decor is tired, and in need of an upgrade.
For the price, and one night it did the job but won’t be rushing back"
"The room was fine, dated and no air con but a quality fan had been provided. A small fridge with some fresh water really ought to be standard in this day and age.
Noisy due to the road, and having to have the window open but bed was comfy.
Disappointing breakfast from a health perspective and food quality - for example some fresh Greek yoghurt and a wider range of fruit not drowned in water would have been lovely. The sliced watermelon was delightful.
All staff I met were wonderful."
