“The Cove” A Quiet Retreat Between Alaskas Ocean and Forest

"A wonderful place, calm, quiet, away from the busy port area, where there were three or more cruise ships docked every day. I loved the location, but I rented a car, as you couldn’t walk to shops or restaurants. The house itself was spotless, comfortable and furnished with not only kitchen basics, but extras like two kinds of coffee makers but also coffee and creamers for both. A 500-piece jigsaw puzzle. Laundry pods for the washer and dryer, which we gratefully used. Alexa available in both kitchen and bathroom. Plenty of plugs for electronics.Our host was the best; living next door and truly interested in helping us have the best experience possible. Very easy to communicate with her before and during our stay. When we decided to arrive one day early—making a total of six nights—the software didn’t allow that change easily. Our host, Bernadine, suggested that we simply pay for the night upon arrival. Easy!I chose this property, among other reasons, because of its layout. I traveled with an adult daughter and both of us needed our own space. My daughter had the downstairs bedroom, while I stayed upstairs, closer to the single bathroom and kitchen/dining room. The single bath was not a problem as the sink and vanity were outside the bathroom door.I found this rental pricey, but that’s Alaska and it’s understandable. It’s worth every penny. My daughter and I loved our beautiful Juneau “home” and would love to stay there again!"

"Great place! The only reason I’m giving it fewer stars is because VRBO listed the location as being in downtown Juneau when the boat is actually located in the Valley. This was a VRBO listing issue and was not the hosts’ fault. The hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful when we brought the location issue to their attention and did everything they could to help.We absolutely loved the boat and the setup. We sat on top watching sunsets every night and even got to watch seals haul out onto the docks. It was such a unique and peaceful experience. Falling asleep to the sound of the rain and gently rocking with the boat was honestly one of my favorite parts of the stay.Even with the location discrepancy on VRBO, we would absolutely stay here again. We could not rave enough about how unique and memorable this stay was! And got to also explore a new area of Juneau!"

"This was a very nice property, much better than any hotel. Exceptionally clean. Great communication with host. Auke Bay is growing, many food and drink options. The room has everything you need to prepare food, hot plate, pots, pans, utensils. Very generous with towels, lovely soaps, spacious fridge, espresso as well as a tea pot and a pour over. Bed is large, comfortable, linens are luxurious, duvet and extra blanket. The tilting/ adjustable bed side lighting was perfect for reading and a plush carpet so feet don’t hit a cold floor, heavy curtains to block out light, a generous closet with shelving and hangers. The host thought of everything,"
