I stay for one night with my mother for a visit to Dumfries House. There was no record of our booking when we arrived but it wasn’t a problem and we were given a room in the annex. All was great although next time we would prefer to stay in the main hotel.
We ate there on Saturday evening and the food was delious.
The hotel recen changed hands and the new owners are renovating it to a high standard. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Noisy extractor fan going on at 3-30 in the morning not what you want for a good nights sleep !!
We were offered an upgrade upon our arrival which was lovely after travelling in the rain all day! Dinner was very tasty and the atmosphere was enjoyable. We had a table by the window for dinner and breakfast. The bed was a king size and comfortable to sleep in. There is parking and complementary wifi. This was a great find and a we highly recommend checking out this hotel in your travels!
I appreciate it is difficult to attract and retain staff at a venue of this type, but dinner was overcooked and the breakfast buffet disappeared on the second day. Had no wifi access to start and was offered acces to an alternative room to use wifi but to no avail- two nights without wifi! Are you kidding? Otherwise, lovely countryside and walks made up for the problems. They need help
We can't say enough about the Enterkine /house - check in was quick - we went to our room in the Kirk House close to the main hotel only to be greeted by a pair of small dogs barking in the next room - the owner tried to quiet them but to no avail - while we love dogs we didn't want to stay beside them as we thought we would possibly be up half the night - the hotel didn't blink an eye and moved us to a beautiful room in the main hotel - it was great ! - had a lovely supper and drinks and a great breakfast - we have nothing but positive things to say about the Enterkine and its staff
Fantastic rooms, quiet and stylish,Excellent conciege service.General feeling of happy well managed staff.Excellent bar staff with huge collection of Whiskey.Huge indoor pool. The perfect place to
relax and unwind...A real 5 star Hotel..Value for money if and when you require to be pampered...
Can not wait to book again.
Nice hotel. We stayed in the Kirk House. Rooms were lovely and clean and bed was comfortable. Plumbing a bit off and on (ie taps stuck on or off and hard to use and water a bit unpredictable in shower). But food lovely and staff very welcoming and helpful.
Set on a working farm Enterkine House Hotel is comprised of the house itself which includes a lounge reception room with a large fireplace and an annex - the kirk, which has another 4 or 5 bedrooms and ensuites. Meals - breakfast and dinner are taken in the dining room that overlooks a wood and farming land. We lashed out for dinner and had the gourmet dinner - it was well paced and delicious, there was a timely interval between courses and the food was very good.
Really nice hotel, tucked away from main road. Very peaceful and quiet, with great views of the countryside. We were staying in the main house.
We went to see Rod Stewart in Kilmarnock - only a 20 / 25 min drive away. Stayed for 2 nights at the hotel. We only had breakfast, but it was really good.
Service was excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
This is a lovely hotel in a country setting. We stayed in the Kirk house beside the hotel (not so good when it's raining). The rooms are comfortable and well decorated /furnished. The water pipes were a bit noisy but very quiet aside from that. Really good choice at breakfast although would have preferred a pot of tea. Great hotel!
My husband and I stayed for an overnight weekend break, we were able to take our dog for an addition £10, and they put us in 'The Lodge' which was perfect for us as it had a kitchenette in the room along with a sofa, separate bathroom and entrance hall for drying the dog. We enjoyed a walk along the river (apart from storm Desmond being in full swing!) and then went for a fabulous dinner in the restaurant which was stunning in its Christmas décor! The staff were all very friendly, helpful and accommodating, the food was fantastic! We hope to be back again very soon.
We arrived late and were the only guests yet the hotel arranged for the chef to come in and prepare us an excellent meal. We were made very welcome by the staff and our room was large, very comfortable and had an excellent view of the surrounding countryside.
