A small bay backed by dunes and pine trees, accessible only by a half mile walk from the nearest car park. Swathes of golden sand and crystal clear waters, Barafundle has been voted many, many times as one of the best beaches in Britain and the world; it’s often likened to a Caribbean beach! This pristine beach is isolated which means no facilities; so everything you take has to come back up over the cliffs.

From the road between Stackpole and Freshwater East. take the turning to Stackpole Quay. Access to the bay is via a 1km path leading from the car park. then a steep cliff path.

During the walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, I wondered what kind of poet wrote this epic story that we find ourselves in. Silly boy...always asking why the sky is blue as if it would change the taste of chocolate or Irish stew. Yet, I still need to know...why? Keeps me occupied, I guess, on days when there is nothing to do but wonder...why blue?

Good walk from Stackpole Court past Stackpole lakes down to Barafundle Bay along beach and up some very steep steps to a National Trust tea room at Stackpole Quay.
