Check in at 14-30 on check in had to wait until 15-00 for room to be ready Got into room to find a bit of rubbish on the floor & tobacco on the chair That night from 22-00 ish until 05-00 the noise from room above was loud & the wife didn't sleep a wink, won't be staying here again

Hi Stuart,So sorry you have had a bad experience with us - this is not our usual standard.We do not guarantee rooms to be ready until 3pm.We have night porters on throughout the night that would of gone up to the room above and told them to be quiet if you had let them know.Kind Regards

Had a twin room big enough for 2 people added bonus was a fan and air cooler as room was a little warm so turned radiator to low setting .1st time at this hotel entertainment was very good staff very welcoming would definitely book again but have a bigger room next time

I booked this hotel for the sauna but on arrival I was told the sauna was being refurbished, if I knew that when booking I would of chose a cheaper hotel.

The Ruskin hotel is a very agreeable place to stay in as much as the reception area, the bar and the exterior are all very well kept. My room was beautifully clean, well decorated and the bathroom was newly refurbished. But the reason I would not stay at the Ruskin again is that in room 314 I was kept away most of the night by noise from other units. The noise was not malicious, it was simply people moving around - in other words it was the complete lack of insulation that kept me awake. I heard the shower being turned on, someone coughing and a door being opened and closed continuously for some reason. Hugely disappointing. But I must mention my evening meal in the bar... excellent fish/chips and mushy peas. Well served very quickly and courteously. Such a shame.

The hotel was nice and food in the bar area excellent. but was woken up at 8am from the room on the third floor above our room which was room 24 I was not sure if it was the people in there or the house keeping but they were back and forth walking about for over an hour and the floor boards were creaking all the time not a restful sleep

Although we arrived very late in the evening, staff were extremely accommodating. Stay overall was ok as only booked in for one night but felt £20 for garage car parking a little steep, particularly as this was an extra and not highlighted at point of booking.

Rock hard bed!
To start with the price of the room was not value for money. The advertisement of parking I was left with a sour taste in my pocket to say the least. They have 8 garages which are always full so parking in a multi storey was the only option.The room was of poor cleanliness with hairs on the throw for the bedding and the shower metal shelf looking as if it’s never been cleaned. The bed was like laying on concrete matched with pillows that only amplified the hardness, with this in mind the sleep was limited but don’t worry the paper thin walls will ensure any wink you do capture is ruined.

Lovely hotel, you are happy to go back to.
Lovely central hotel, close to shopping centre. Very clean, lovely family room, comfortable beds. Had evening meal as well as breakfast. Food very good. Entertainment good. There was nothing we didn't like about it. Have stayed previously with my husband.

The staff in particular in all areas are excellent and go the extra mile to make your stay the best it can be! Canadian Janice in the Bar I will pull out for special mention as she really looked after me when I came back late from dancing at the Winter gardens without any food and see searched until she found me something! But all the staff as I said are so good and make you feel at home!

Lovely room just w downfalls
Nice weather and friendly staff. Room was sooooo comfy. The bed was devine. Only 2 down falls was that they dont provide and iron & ironing board and that check out is 11am. I put the do not disturb sugn on the door & stil the maid knocked on at 1015am then opened the door shich rellt peeved us off. No appolgies from him

Sandra, sorry you feel you have to award us 6/10, guessing this is due to you being charged 200 for the booking you failed to cancel, please note you made 4 bookings for 1 room, you cancelled 2 of the bookings used 1 booking and failed to cancel the 4th booking, the hotel had every right to charge you in full 430, but as a gesture of goodwill the hotel provided you 100 in hotel credit then resold the sold on Saturday and refunded you the 130 for that night. Going forward, we would suggest you make 1 booking for 1 room and not book 4 times in the Future.

Very good hotel with friendly staff.
Very friendly welcome. Room on second floor was a little on the small side but not crampt. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was time slot (1/2 hourly) based to allow the staff to deal with numbers. Again friendly and helpful staff. All breakfast items available with tea/coffee/toast order taken when seated. Bar available in evening was well stocked. If any downsides were to be noted - parking was not at hotel so used council run parking nearby. Would suggest an area away from main entrance for smokers.
