"If you’re looking for something with character, this is the Hotel for you book a king room with a view across to the pier and the water. The rooms are very spacious… and breakfast was included. It was an excellent breakfast. Order off the menu plus Continental selections as well. I would like to take the time to thank AJ he made my stay fantastic, really friendly and took the time to have a chat with you. Also, I would love to highlight that I left my passport and credit card in one of the drawers, I spoke with AJ before leaving letting him know where I was heading in Torquay. He rang ahead and left a message for me and secured my passport and credit card. I can’t thank him enough for being so caring and understanding. Highly recommend you stay here."

"Pool was lovely and warm. Our room had ripped wallpaper but the staff dealt with our complaint well by upgrading our room with no fuss. Staff very courteous. "

"My partner and I had a fantastic stay at the Cumberland. We were in Bournemouth for a concert and this hotel was ideal as it was close to the venue and had a good location overlooking the bay. Our room was comfortable and good value but what really stood out was how good the staff were. Lisa made us feel welcome and gave us some great advice on the facilities and the waiters and managers were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed the outside and inside pools, as well as the sauna during our short stay."

"Clean, spacious room. Very comfortable stay. Staff polite and helpful. Very easy access to the beach. Slightly outside of town so limited selection of restaurants and cafes locally (recommend Goat & Tricycle pub down the road), but most of what you want is within 10 minutes' walk. Breakfast is fairly expensive for a standard hotel buffet. Okay if staying for a night or two, but would suggest skipping the buffet and going to a local cafe if staying longer. Much better food (and better value!)."
