"Had an amazing 3 day break with my 89yr old Mum. We loved it! Breakfast plentiful, kept us going all day. Sea view room was amazing, looking over pool & beach. Room was immaculate , bedding & towels high quality. Used the spa & outdoor pool, great experience"

"Comfortable bed. Nice room. Espresso machine in room - excellent. Blinds were a bit broken and not blackout. Single glazing which was mostly ok at this time of year but anyone or vehicle who did go past definitely disturbed our sleep. Bath towels were small, not bath sheets. Lovely friendly staff. Good vibe. Chilled. No parking which we didnt realise until we got there. Would be useful to have that flagged before travelling so you can go straight to one of the public car parks."

"I received a warm and friendly welcome from Tommy when I arrived and he kindly offered me a lift to a nearby venue the next day (I was in Braunton for a wedding). The room itself is large (huge bed!) and comfortable, with a small kitchenette in the corner that includes a fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee machine, though do note, there are no cooking facilities. This was fine for me (-I brought muesli with me.) Everything was clean and comfortable. There's also a seating area outside for your morning coffee. Thistledene is just 2 minutes from a bus stop from Barnstaple station, if you are travelling by train. From the same bus stop, buses take you to Saunton beach and Ilfracombe in 20-30 mins. The village centre is a seven minute walk away and there's a handy co-op store as well as restaurants and independent shops, a small wildlife centre and museum. I would stay there again."

"Our stay at Middle Thorne exceeded our expectations , the lodge was well equipped and very comfortable . We found it ideal after a day out exploring to come back and relax in the hot tub . Our retired police dog enjoyed her first beach holiday and the secure garden was perfect . The local eateries we tried like Duck Dive , Thia Siam Bistro were excellent and catered for my coeliac non gluten diet . We are looking to book again for next year ."

"The house was very comfortable, especially the beds. The host was easy to get hold of, we had trouble getting the downstairs television to work, I emailed her and she replied quickly. I found the stairs very steep and with the bathroom downstairs, my husband and myself slept in the single beds downstairs. We had trouble with the oven and informed Stephanie and she is looking into getting it changed. The property is very cosy and in a gorgeous location. The view from the garden is more than you could wish for. Anyone thinking of going there would not be disappointed but be aware of the steep staircase."
