Perfect getaway

Perfect getaway for the family. Loved the fireplace, cozy bedrooms and very clean. Enough space for our family of 6. Could use some more kitchenware and the hot tub never got hot enough but that didn’t stop us!

This home is beautiful and the views were gorgeous. The only negative is the drive to the top and how long it takes to go anywhere...but that's the price you have to pay for the views!

Arrived at the property and it had yet to be cleaned and there was an issue with the hot tub. Both were rectified as soon as we called to check in. The place was awesome with lots of space and modern appliances. Bring your own pots, pans, and baking sheets.

Not the right cabin for us but beautiful.

Pros: Beautiful home, incredible views, no need for 4x4, easy check in, pleasant rental agency, clean Cons: insufficient cooking supplies, no internet for our entire stay, uncomfortable beds (very firm), Master shower drained so slowly, no bath mats in secondary bathroom, no yard for children to roam, no outdoor gas grill, washer/dryer weren't working properly, tankless water heater is located in master closet and is LOUD when working, lacked amenities for children Overall this is a lovely cabin that is reasonably located to attractions but it was not the right cabin for my family. It needed some attention to detail as far as cooking supplies, maintenance, and ambience. My family prefers a cabin that feels like you're staying at a friend's home and not a rental. The yard is not ideal for young children or loose dogs as there is no fencing or anything to indicate that there is an extreme drop off. The road up is intimidating but easily traversed in a 2 wheel drive SUV. I highly recommend the restaurant that is at the mouth of the holler going to the property, The Rivers End.

Scenic and Peaceful

Views are amazing and, if you love birds, be ready for a pair of Indigo Buntings to serenade you! Hummingbirds are at the ready. There are what appear to be blackberry bushes all around the property, and if your are quiet enough, you may see deer (you will definitely notice their scat around the driveway). Watching the sunrise, and the ebb and flow of clouds throughout the day across the mountains which surround this location is very relaxing. Hot tub was on point and, if you take a dip at night, turn off the porch lights to enjoy the view of stars and planets. There is no lifter on which to fold the hot tub cover for ease of removing/replacing so be mindful of that if you are lacking in upper body strength. There are a few cabins near this location (one of which you can see through the trees to the ESE), so be prepared for some visitor noise; sound travels for sure up here! We drove up in a FWD sedan and had no problem making our way to the house. Waze did not have the right directions as we neared the house so use the directions provided by the management company-they are on point! The house is setup very well and everyone said they slept well on the beds. The guest bathroom is not easy for older people with mobility issues (high step in and no handle bars) but the master bath has a walk in shower which worked perfectly. Only thing I wished for was an outdoor fire pit (indoor gas fireplace worked wonderfully!) Will def come back to be Above It All!

Breathtaking Views

We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more, our pup loved the mountains and although the road was interesting it wasn’t unmanageable.

Phenomenal views, stunning home

This was our first VRBO experience and it did not disappoint! Despite previous reviews regarding the road, we found the road well maintained and easy to drive in our Toyota Sienna van. If you are not familiar with mountain roads and gravel be sure to arrive during the day for your first ascent. A lovely home with all the comforts of home and spectacular views. Be sure to catch the sunrise and sunsets! We are already planning a return trip next year.

Spectacular Mountaintop Property

We absolutely loved this beautiful, roomy cabin with modern features. We arrived at night in a 2wheel drive Honda CRV and the mountain road to the cabin was challenging but our GPS worked the whole time albeit the written directions were necessary with the important markers named. The next day, it was like waking up to Christmas morning as we realized there’s a 270-degree panoramic view of the gorgeous Smokies. This house sits on a lovely vista that is perfect for enjoying the mountains day and night. The outdoor hot-tub is magnificent with Bluetooth access for music if you like while enjoying the scenery. The deck is roomy and great for relaxing, eating outside, listening to the sounds of nature, and enjoying the sunrise or a starry night with moonlight. This place is perfect for 2 families. It was a wonderful getaway and I didn’t want to leave “Above It All”. If you’re thinking about this cabin, I highly recommend it. The views, the cabin itself. the easy access to Nantahala Outdoor Center and Bryson City are unprecedented. In fact, perhaps a little piece of Heaven on Earth. My only suggestion is for the management to return calls or at least email a response when contacted. Gratefully they took care of the couple of minor issues for which we called them but they didn’t communicate at all via email or phone call. Regardless, I would love to spend a few more days here again or better yet, a week if and when time permits. Thank you to the owners!

Terrifying drive up the mountain… must have 4 wheel drive vehicle

I phoned the management 6 weeks before to obtain the address so I could do a drive by. They refused for security reasons.. this should have been a red flag. We were not able to plan any activities that would have us returning after dark as it would be a dangerous drive up and if you missed a turn it could be very dangerous turning around on the narrow, steep hill. Management refused to move us and stated that “they had never received a complaint before”. Indeed they had as there were comments written in the guest book about the “terrifying trip up the mountain”. Our electricity went out twice and there was no generator on site. There were instructions in what not to do of electricity went out so this must have been also a reaccuring problem. The dishwasher did not work and comments in the book mentioned this also from a month before. There were no toiletries, detergents or extra paper products provided. The management did help us by allowing a family member to come down to the office for an important zoom meeting when the electricity went out the second time . Even though this home had lovely views, the 15 minute treacherous drive up and down put a damper on all the activities we had hoped to do. If you want to be isolated and have a lovely view and have a 4- wheel drive vehicle, this will work for you.

Gorgeous view

We loved the view at this property and enjoyed dining al fresco as a result. We were disappointed in the basic to slim kitchen supplies. The mattresses in this house are super firm and we were very uncomfortable to the point that we would not return. But we had a fun week regardless and made good family memories. But this property gets 3 stars from us.

Gorgeous View

This property is stunning! House is located on an unpaved road that GPS is inaccurate, but the property manager gives detailed directions in confirmation email. Property is very bad with communications through VRBO. I messaged them multiple times months in advance and still have not received a response through the app. Other than this, our stay was very pleasant and comfortable.

Unforgettable Views

The property is amazing! Private. Views from every direction. The first time going up the gravel road was terrifying, but after that it was fine ( we stayed during fall, maybe diff in winter ) Check in was easy, and every time I spoke with the property manager they were very helpful. Only CON is they need to have more towels available.

The views are amazing. Beautiful house and the set up is perfect for family or multi couples. Location is also good. Close to rafting, zip lines and shopping. Looking forward to coming back to Above It All.
