Riverside Cottage - City Centre - Sleeps 5
This charming 19th century cottage is around 150 years old and is located in the heart of Canterbury, within the Roman city walls and just minutes from the main attractions. Fully modernised, it's located directly on the River Stour and enjoys beautiful views.
If you love being near the water, this is the place for you.
Additionally, the house is at the end of a no-through-road. There’s no passing traffic, making it a quiet, peaceful place to relax after a day of sightseeing in and around Canterbury.
--------------
There are two bedrooms upstairs that can be configured to your needs. Typically, we have a king-size bed in the master bedroom and 2 small-single beds in the other room.
A beautiful living room with an exposed brickwork and 2 comfortable leather sofas. The TV has digital signal and can stream Netflix, iPlayer and all the main apps.
A good-size kitchen with dining table for 5 people - great for meals and perfect for working on your laptop, with an excellent Wi-Fi signal from the nearby router.
The bathroom, on the ground-floor, features a large, luxury walk-in shower. There’s no bath.
There’s outside space overlooking the river for eating or just enjoying the tranquillity.
The cottage has a fairly steep and narrow staircase (see picture) and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.
----
Sleeping --------- The house sleeps a maximum of 5. Additionally a baby cot is available.
The beds in the master bedroom are normally linked together to form a king-size, but can be separated into two small singles.
The beds in the second bedroom are normally two small singles, but can be linked together to form a king-size.
The fifth bed is shorter than normal (175cm long instead of the typical 190cm) and only suitable for a child. It pulls out from under the bed in the master bedroom. Use of this bed comes with a small additional change to cover laundry and effort from the cleaners.
Various bed configurations can be offered. These are shown in the floorplan in the "Additional Pictures". Please look at these pictures and ask if you have any questions. Configuration A is the standard configuration included in the price. Other configurations attract a small additional charge. Please enquire for details.
If you have a baby, there is a pop-up 'travel cot'. It’s kept in the wardrobe of the master bedroom and needs to be set up. Bedding for the cot isn’t provided.
------- Location --------- The house is very well located in the heart of Canterbury. Within the City walls and easy walking distance of the Cathedral, the Marlow theatre, the high street, both rail stations, and all the other central Canterbury attractions.
Walking distances according to Google Maps. • High street - 5 minutes’ walk • Cathedral - 8 minutes’ walk • East railway station - 8 minutes’ walk • Marlowe Theatre - 8 minutes’ walk • West railway station - 14 minutes’ walk
In addition to being an excellent place for a Canterbury visit, it’s also a fantastic base from which to explore wider Kent: Whitstable, Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Sandwich, Folkstone, Dover, Faversham, The North Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, various local beaches and far more besides… are all easily reached either by car, bus or train.
