Test your nerves along this suspended walkway and you will be rewarded with the most spectacular views of a west-coast rainforest.

Stretching 137 metres across the Capilano River, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is one of the most popular attractions in Vancouver. Teetering 70 metres above the canyon, this structured walkway is a magnet for intrepid families, adventurers, and any other brave soul with a head for heights.Consisting merely of basic hemp ropes and cedar planks, the original bridge was built in 1889 by the Scottish engineer George Grant Mackay. Over the course of the next century, the bridge became the tourist attraction that it is today.Journey onto the walkway, pausing to drink in the stunning panoramic views of the rugged landscape. Inhale the smells of the beautiful west-coast rainforest before slowly making your way to the centre of the swaying bridge. You won’t find a better vantage point to capture that memorable photo so ensure you have your camera ready.Hungry for more? Tackle the nail-biting Cliffwalk, which consists of a series of cantilevered walkways that jut precariously off the façade of the granite cliff. Steady yourself here and enjoy the magnificent views of the rainforest below. Part of this path is made up of glass panels so unless you have nerves of steel, don’t look down!If the thoughts of this are making your stomach churn, fear not. Blending beautifully into the natural landscape, the Treetops Adventure is a series of seven bridges that connect to several giant Douglas fir trees. Perched at a mere 30 metres above the forest floor, this is perfect for visitors of a more nervous disposition. If vertigo is starting to take hold, calm yourself with a stroll around the First Nations display of totem poles before heading to the Story Centre to learn about the history of the bridge. Finally, top off your day with a guided tour through the various nature trails and living forest exhibitions. With so much on offer here, it’s no surprise that this popular attraction draws over 800,000 visitors a year, so just make sure you are one of them!
