Visit the prettiest park in Vancouver for beautiful gardens, breath-taking scenery and exotic plants and animals.

Perched 152 metres above sea level, Queen Elizabeth Park is the jewel in Vancouver’s crown. Boasting 52 hectares of spectacular gardens, dramatic fountains, public artworks, and breath-taking views, this is the premiere destination for visitors with an interest in horticulture, botany or art as well as anyone else who appreciates outstanding beauty and tranquillity.Start your day with a pleasant stroll around the landscaped lawns where colourful flowerbeds burst in a kaleidoscope of rainbow-coloured hues. Drop by the arboretum and inhale the sweet scents of ponderosa pine and Douglas fir before visiting the oriental North Quarry Garden, where pretty bridges span over tinkling streams. The shimmering Bloedel Conservatory sits proudly in the heart of the park. Consisting of tropical and subtropical rainforest habitats as well as a desert zone, this paradise is home to over 100 free-flying birds and 500 exotic plants and flowers. Wander among the ornamental fish pools and admire the lush interior as macaws and African parrots create a sweet cacophony overhead. When you emerge into the sunlight, pause at the adjacent Dancing Waters fountain to observe 70 jets of water as they punch into the sky in a delightful symphony.Art lovers are well represented in this pretty park with a plethora of public artworks dotted throughout the verdant greenery. Of particular note is the extraordinary bronze sculpture ‘Knife Edge Two Piece’ by renowned master, Henry Moore. Follow this with a visit to the Painter’s Corner where local artists display their work. Have your portrait drawn or purchase an original piece – either make great souvenirs to take back home. With plenty of recreational amenities including pitch and putt, tennis, bowling, and facilities for winter tobogganing, active visitors will also have a great time at this beautiful park. Happily there are lots of shady spots to shelter from the hot sun, so bring a picnic hamper and a blanket and make a day of it.
