Authentic Périgourdine house comfort & calm

"Lovely two bedroom house with many outdoor spaces. The host was very helpful in explaining and showing us around the property. He also lives next door so is available for any problems and speaks excellent English. There is a pool which is shared with another property but was lovely, and there is a separate terrace next to the pool where you can watch the hot air balloons go by in the evenings. Bear in mind that the property does not have air conditioning and even at the end of September it was quite hot at night in the bedrooms. We mainly catered for ourselves rather than going out to eat, and the kitchen had everything we needed, including an espresso machine and a dishwasher. Lots to do in the area and plenty to see, although a car is definitely needed as although the village is lovely, there are no shops within walking distance."

"Our stay at Mount Joie was absolutely wonderful! The villa's location in the Dordogne Valley is superb—just minutes from must-see tourist sites. Vincent, the owner, provided detailed instructions and thoughtful recommendations for restaurants and local markets, making our visit effortless and memorable. This villa offered the French Provincial experience we, as two city-dwelling Americans, were seeking. While Beynac may look enchanting online, in person it truly feels like a fairytale village. I highly recommend a visit—just remember to pack comfortable sneakers, as the hilly streets make heels impractical!"

"The property is in a spectacular setting with great views over the Dordogne valley. It is on several levels with the 9.6m x 4.8m pool just below the house in a large garden with good privacy. It is a beautiful property which is clearly a family summer home. As such it has lots of character and a well stocked kitchen (in terms of utensils etc). The property was not perfect when we arrived as the pool was a little dirty (it had been very windy in the previous days) but Peter, the host, sorted this out very quickly. Aside from being a lovely house it is in a great location being close to chateaux at Beynac and Les Milandes and to Saint-Cyprien where there is a wonderful Sunday market. Sarlat is about 20-25 minutes drive away. The Dordogne river is only a few minutes drive away with numerous canoe hire locations and wild swimming opportunities. Some of the decor and fittings and decor were a little old so the property won't appeal to everyone but my family really liked it."
