Chirnside Holidays

Room smelled strongly of a strange chemical floral smell. Had to keep the window open to try and air it out. No food available nearby. There is a mall within a short walk that offers a Greg’s and a McDonald’s. The hotel is not 4 stars. It is a bit rundown. The staff are nice and try to be helpful.

The bathroom was not clean and had a smell

A very pleasant weekend was ruined on the last night. We were the only guests on the ground floor, (room 201). There were 2 parties in adjoining function rooms, twice I asked to be moved as we kept awake with the noise. There was people leaning against our room door, even trying our door as there was toilets right next to our room. People were mistaken our room for the toilet. I got the receptionist to see for herself, and there was a mother and child sat in our doorway, they had to move for me to gain access. All we got was an apology, but nothing could be done about it. The floor outside our room was tiled creating even more noise. No one should be allocated that room when parties are planned. As I said earlier, a good weekend was ruined.

Not Recommended. While the location was good, Rooms and Hotel were clean , and the front desk staff were very helpful; go somewhere else if you want quiet and safety. 1. You cannot secure your room. There is no deadbolt or bar on the door to prevent unwanted entry. On both days of our stay, Hotel staff ignored the do not disturb sign, did not knock or announce themselves, and entered our room while we resting in bed. The first time was the Hotel Manager, who then promised us it would never happen again. Till the next day housekeeping barged in on again. He replied he was trained to ignore the do not disturb signs. When confronted the Hotel Manager replied he was sorry but had no ideas on how to prevent this, 2. The hotel's bar and nightclub is an open air patio just outside your window, Not a problem if you love music shaking your room till the wee hours of the night. But the do provide earplugs. Many other hotels in the Grassmarket area, I would suggest trying someplace else.

Everything was top Notch! And you can beat the location.
