"To say it’s rough around the edges is being kind. As a solo business traveller it is convenient and the second time I have stayed. Former IPAS centre and it shows. Little money has been spent on it to bring it back to a real hotel level. Continental breakfast was good. Parking is convenient. In the centre of the town and cheaper than other hotels around. Fine for me but if I brought the wife she would not be happy."

"An incredible experience and one of the most beautiful areas I have ever had the privilege to be in. This hotel has been run by the same family since the 1930s and their dedication to hospitality shines through. The food in the restaurant is extraordinary and is prepared with love. You will enjoy the grounds, the bar, the sitting room and everything about Gougane Barra."

"Haus wurde auf der Website exakt beschrieben ; durchaus charmant, ist aber ein wenig "in die Jahre" gekommen. Ideal gelegen für die Erkundung von Beara, Mizen Head , Sheeps Head , Killarney NP ein wenig weiter weg (80 km).1 1/2 km vom nächst gelegenen Restaurant, 5 km von Bantry mit vielen Einkaufsmöglickeiten. Alle wichtigen Dinge wie große Küchengeräte und Heizung funktionierten einwandfrei. Betten in allen Schlafzimmern sehr bequem.-- In der Küche gab es leider nur eine benutzbare Pfanne, die andere müsste dringend erneuert werden. Dusche im OG (vermutlich wegen fehlendem Wasserdruck) quasi unbenutzbar. Kleine Infomappe mit Kontaktelefonnummern und ein paar Anweisungenwäre sehr hilfreich. Leider haben wir Jack erst am letzten Abend kennengelernt, weiteren Kontakt gab es nicht."
