"I fulfilled a dream with this stay. This is definitely a niche hotel. The facility is more than 100 years old and changes have maintained the original features but also acknowledged the present to the extent possible. (The elevator is staff-operated.) But there are only two floors of rooms. The view is gorgeous, and although numerous trains passed along the river below, the sound was minimal, even with my window open. My stay was midweek, and very pleasant. Those with a love of history and quaint, charming places will love this hotel."

"This is my third visit to Lightwell. I love the property though believe they can do better. They’re a nice property in a great town. I think the lobby and rooftop area are fantastic. The front desk staff is great. What I found wrong is that the room could be kept cleaner. This is a brand new property that they spent over a year or more renovating and opened not quite a year ago. I just think the housekeeping management could be better. For me, the bathrooms are the area that really indicate how well housekeeping is managing properties. My bathroom was pretty clean except, they weren’t refilling the amenities, even after asking for it to be done. The shower area had yellow soap scum and I can’t help but think the effort to keep the space clean could/should be better. I share this here not to tell people don’t go, I share it to be sure management hears it. I love the place, will definitely go back again but want them to take the housekeeping efforts of the hotel more seriously than they are doing. If it keeps on the same path, in a year I may be here saying I won’t stay."

"Our stay was wonderful. We loved everything! The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the different waterfalls in the area and enjoying Oregon's beautiful scenery. Breakfast at the restaurant, with its gorgeous river view, was spectacular. The room was super clean, and everything was excellent. We definitely recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again. A beautiful and unforgettable experience! ❤️🌲🌊"

"I love the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. It is also very affordable for what it has. I wish there were an outdoor pool. Would be nice if it were more like a resort. But I guess that's why it is so affordable. I was looking forward to the cold-plunge but both were out of service. Sauna and hot tubs were the only amenities I used. Rooms are pretty bland but I've stayed in a room that had a hot tub on the balcony last time and really enjoyed that one. Staff were very friendly and enjoyable to discuss the property with. I highly recommend - especially if your on a tight budget."
