The Space:
Off the Grid is the perfect summer getaway for your whole family to enjoy.
Featuring just over 4,000 square feet, this 6-bedroom, 5.5-bath home has owner grade finishes throughout. New finishes include all white shaker kitchen cabinets, delta faucets and gold hardware, upgraded bathroom vanities and floors, plus an entirely rebuilt ground floor. With all new contemporary-coastal inspired decor, Off the Grid offers plenty of room for guests to spread out, relax, and enjoy every part of this huge custom three level home.

The property has multiple Trex decks and a screened porch to sip evening drinks and capture the breathtaking north-west sunsets over the dunescape. Built-in Bluetooth speakers are located in the 3rd floor living room and game lounge to play your favorite tunes. Downstairs features the custom built movie room with an extra large 86” LG smart TV paired with surround sound and theatre seats for 5, game lounge featuring a pool table, bar seating and 50” flat screen TV, plus a 6th bedroom complete with double bunk beds.

Amenities include a private jacuzzi hot tub, large driveway and carport with direct ground floor keypad entry, elevator access to each floor, high-speed wifi, and a custom movie theatre room. In 2022-2023 the ground floor game lounge, movie room and 6th bedroom were added, in addition to bathroom and furniture upgrades throughout.

With 8 large smart TV’s throughout the home, a recently added Apple TV connected movie theater room and an upgraded game lounge on the ground floor, our home is ready for you to sit back, relax and have fun. The home is equipped with high-speed wifi, wall-mounted smart TV’s in all King and Queen bedrooms and the top floor’s Bluetooth sound system can be played both inside and on the enclosed patio.

With it’s enormous open-layout kitchen, newly serviced elevator, pre-heated jacuzzi, cul-de-sac beach-access and the unforgettable views make this home as good as it gets “Off the Grid!”

Detailed check-in instructions and a unique access code will be provided prior to arrival.

**Per HOA guidelines and local laws, the guests making the reservation must be at least 23 years old and be present during the entire duration of the stay. For non-family groups, all guests must be over the age of 23. If this rule or the home occupancy limit is breached, guests may be subject to fines or eviction.**

High speed Wifi is an amenity that is provided at the property but we cannot guarantee functionality for issues that are beyond our control. Potential Wifi outages will always be handled in a timely manner and resolved to the best of our ability. Unfortunately it is not guaranteed that our solutions will fix the issue and refunds will not be given for Wifi malfunctions.

Cheers to Off the Grid!

Off the Grid is a wonderful well appointed property with everything you need to enjoy a great vacation. The property is ideally located with an easy walk to the beach and being dog friendly is an major plus for pooches who enjoy the beach life. The owners obviously care about their guests and making sure they enjoy their time at the house. It is impeccably maintained and has all the comforts of home away from home. Relaxing and peaceful stay during the holidays

My family and our dogs had a opportunity to stay at Off the Grid over the holidays and it was just what we needed to relax. And what an incredible view - the pictures do not do it justice, it is much closer to the ocean than it looks! The bedrooms were roomy and falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves was very pleasant surprise. During our stay we suggested to the hosts that they might need some new patio furniture and based on the most up to date pictures it looks like they have been replaced. We will definitely be coming back with our family next year!

Wonderful property

Had an awesome and amazing vacation. Nick and Chey provided above and beyond expectations. Have owned a home and rented for many years. This was by far the best. Movie room was a big hit for movie watching and game playing. Had to fight teenages for adult time!! Thank you for sharing your home with others. We will be back!!

OBX Vacay

The house is well built for a family or two families that want to travel together. The movie room and pool table are an awesome addition especially for rainy days and late nights. The hosts could not have been more responsive to our needs. It’s a two minute walk to the beach, three minute drive to a large grocery store, great smoothie joint, ice cream and pizza. All the bedroom are spacious many with en-suite bathrooms. Two bunk beds on the ground floor complete the place for kids, and give the adults lots of privacy. My only complaint is the house wasn’t super super clean, which is understandable given we stayed toward the end of the season.

Beautiful Beach Home - Perfect for a Beach Vacation

My family and friends had a spectacular time during our stay at Off the Grid! The home is absolutely beautiful and so very clean; all we needed to do was unpack our bags and head to the beach, which is only steps away, when we arrived on Saturday afternoon! First of all, the communication with Nick and Chey is unparalleled. They were so responsive with any questions we had and made certain that we had everything we needed! I knew that I could just reach out at any time and get a question answered right away. The house is so well stocked with anything you might need during your stay; there are even dog treats and toys (if you happen to bring a furry friend)! We loved the fact that there were also games and books provided, should we have forgotten any ourselves. Off the Grid provides all things you might want at the beach - umbrellas, chairs, toys, towels... Each room of the house is comfortable and cozy. The main top floor of the home is perfect for large gatherings and offers a breathtaking view of the beach. Our family and friends spent a considerable amount of time in the kitchen and the living room, cooking and playing games, and also on the screened in porch and deck. It was PERFECT!! When not there, or on the beach, we had a blast in the media room and in the game room playing pool. Late nights held movie viewings and pool contests, creating lots of laughs and memories! We all commented on the fact that we had plenty of space to spread out throughout the week, in comfort and luxury! We cannot wait to go back to Off the Grid to make more special memories. 5 star rating for Nick and Chey and Off the Grid!

We wanted to stay another week!

Our 11 family members from grandparents to the youngest celebrating her 6th birthday loved our week at Off the Grid. It is less than 50 yards over the dunes to the beach, where we spent part of each day surf fishing, making sand turtles, swimming, walking our 2 dogs, listening to music/sunning, practicing gymnastics flips, playing Spike Ball and Bocci, and flying a big kite at sunset. There was no need for the bikes and rollerblades that we took along. All ages loved the game room, pool table, movie room with 5 recliners and unlimited viewing choices, wrap-around decks to enjoy sunrises over the beach and sunsets over the maritime forest behind the house, with a great view of Carolla fireworks celebrating the 4th of July. Plenty of space for preparing and enjoying family meals and well-furnished with everything we needed. Bonus details included a library, covered and screened portion of deck, hot tub that would be great in cooler weather, and elevator for getting suitcases and groceries up to the main floor on 3rd level. AND, the weather was absolutely perfect during our stay!Advice: Harris Teeter and shopping is nearby (2 blocks), but all tenants arrive on Sat. or Sun. and checkout line at Harris Teeter is 45 minutes long. Recommend: avoid grocery shopping until Monday! Likewise, when all tenants check out by 10:00 am on Sat. or Sun., cars on Hwy. 12 move at 5 mph, or stopped. It takes 2.5 hours to go 10 miles, through Duck. Recommend leaving at 5 am or on weekday!

Off The Grid (with every amenity)

This house is A+. Just over the sand dunes to the beach and the house literally comes equipped with everything one could ever need on a beach vacation (boards, chairs, canopies, etc). We melted into the beach and just wore a path between the beach and house. Great family vacation!

Best Corolla Vacation Ever!

What an amazing property and fantastic vacation in Corolla! I am not being overly effusive when I say that this was the best Corolla experience my family and I have had after coming to the OBX for the last 10 years. James, the owner, was easy to work with and immediately responsive to all of our questions and issues (broken lock on outer door and A/C malfunction). As for the property, it's in a class above all others--extremely clean, with lots of light; a fully stocked and well-appointed kitchen; and all of the beds were very comfortable--I had some of the best nights of sleep in a long while. Bottom line, it was an awesome vacation and I give Off the Grid my highest endorsement. We will certainly check here first for our next Corolla vacation!

We had a family reunion in OBX and the Off Grid house was perfect. Nice accommodations, a short walking distance to beach. The house had all the amenities and comforts of home.

Beautiful house and perfect location.

Our family had a terrific time. Plenty of room and easy walk to the beach. The owners are very easy to communicate with and truly accommodating. The house cleaning service was okay and the beds were pretty brutal. But I had an air mattress which really helped. Old lumpy mattresses are really the only down side. Other than the beds, we all loved our experience.

Great location and really appreciated all the small touches ( cooking supplies, beach towels/chairs etc.) A lot of stairs to walk but that's a good thing when vacation eating/drinking.

Lovely beach home with great views

Off the Grid was a wonderful place for our extended family vacation. When I first walked in, I noticed that the rooms were all bigger than they appeared in the photographs which is always a relief when online booking. The multiple king rooms and every room having an en-suite bath are hard to find in vacation rentals, so that was a huge selling point for us. The gorgeous views of the ocean and sound of the surf through the screen doors made for a tranquil trip. Having beach towels provided was a wonderful treat! We would have loved to have seen a basket of toys for kids in the reading nook. The appliances will receive about a 3 star review. The dishwasher leaked while running, the dryer really struggled to dry the beach towels in a timely manner - it seemed very, very slow. The coffee pot is low end compared to other amenities in the house - the filter basket does not fit the machine so basically every pot has grounds in it. While the house is very large and the common area on the 3rd floor was big enough for our whole group, the outdoor space here is quite limited. There is no place for the whole group to sit together outside. Unfortunately, some of us had Covid on the trip, so those in our group ended up only visiting in the outside spaces. We spent way more time outside than we had planned so that space got the most use for us. The small screened in porch is stifling hot in the late afternoon/evening and could really benefit from a ceiling fan. The decks with the adirondack chairs are very narrow, so everyone has to sit in a row. It doesn't lend itself to group conversation well. The deck space is lovely if you're enjoying your evening cocktail by yourself or with one other person, but the entire family cannot gather there. This is a small thing that would not at all have been an issue if we had been able to sit together inside. But since we were not, those limitations stood out for us. Both the basement and the third floor have plenty of indoor space for a large group. Communication with Chey and Nick was fast and easy! When we didn't receive enough bath towels for everyone (four teens in the bunk room) Chey was quick to offer a solution and even sent a lovely gift to the house as a thank you. Very responsive owners! You can tell they take great pride in their home and go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome!

Great family vacation!

Off the Grid was the perfect place for our family vacation. There were 9 of us and the house was the perfect size, with each room having their own bathrooms and showers attached. Nick and Chey were great hosts as they were very easy to connect with and responded to all of our messages quickly. They went above and beyond by making us feel right at home with treats for our dogs, a basket of leashes/poop bags and the house has a ton of dog toys if wanted. Where the house is located is a quick walk to the beach or a nice stroll through the neighborhood to the tennis/pickleball courts and very close to a Harris Teeter! The porch offers fantastic views of the ocean and the sunset each night on all levels. The movie theater and pool table offered escapes from the beach and great ways to bond as well as the book nook that is perfect for doing puzzles or diving into a new book! The kitchen was large and fully stocked while also having additional gadgets that we found very useful. Overall we had an amazing time and were very happy with our choice and highly recommend Off the Grid to any big group or family looking for a place in OBX!

Wonderful Beach Getaway

The house is excellent. Well-appointed, well-maintained, no issues. The view, however, is exceptional! With beach access just steps away, the view of the ocean from the third floor deck makes you feel as though you are right on the water. Being in Corolla is much more relaxing and enjoyable than being near Duck (which gets pretty heavy with traffic most days). We were near everything we needed from stores to restaurants to places to see. We are very much looking forward to coming back next year!

The owners did a great job educating us about the area - activities and restaurants. They have information available on line and are quick to respond to questions. The property itself is fantastic. It is nicely laid out and beautifully maintained. The views are great and beach access is easy.
