"We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful home in the Outer Banks! It was the perfect space for our multi-generational family retreat. The open layout made it easy for everyone to connect, and the large kitchen island became our gathering spot for preparing meals together around our retreat theme. The dining area easily seated our whole group, which made it ideal for both shared meals and our family workshops.The house was clean, nicely updated, and modernized while still feeling warm and welcoming. We also loved being so close to the beach—it made morning walks and sunset photos effortless. The driveway fit all our cars comfortably, and the owner/management team was extremely responsive and helpful throughout our stay.If you’re looking for a home that combines space, comfort, and convenience for a large family or group, this one is perfect.Highly recommend! ...Oh, and the view!!!"

"House/property was everything we needed. Check in process was very easy, location was perfect. We saw the wild horses every day, which was fantastic! We had no issues, so did not need to contact the owner during our stay, but prior to the stay, owner was very responsive. "

"We had a fantastic stay. We had everything we needed for cooking meals. Yes, it’s remote, but it’s very peaceful and quiet. We wanted to get away from it all with the family, and we spent hours at both the beach (short walk) and playing in the pool. The home is very clean. We saw horses everyday but one. Thanks for a wonderful stay! Would highly recommend! "

"The house was located on a 4 x 4 only beach, which would have been fine if we had been informed prior to our arrival about the conditions to expect and the proper way to navigate them. We arrived after dark, during high tide, with inflated tires. We should have been told to watch the tide charts because the beach becomes impassable at high tide. We were not, and barely made it to our turn off because it was a shortly after high tide. We should have been told about letting the air out of the tires to make driving on the beach doable, which we were not. This resulted in us getting stuck in the sand and a costly towing bill. We were advised against driving the beach at night by the tow truck driver who said it was very dangerous if you were unfamiliar with the beach. There are many hazards that could have ruined our vehicle if we hit one, luckily we didn’t. The constant monitoring and worrying over high tide and our schedule made for a miserable trip. We were obviously not from the area and consider it negligent that the leasing company did not give us any information other than we needed a four wheel drive vehicle. "

"The Carte’s were extremely pleased with our stay for the 2025 Labor Day holiday. The house was amazing, clean and Phil was extremely helpful with answering our questions about the area. The best part of our trip was by far the wild horses and the seclusion of the Rusty Crab. We recommend booking a visit at this house and giving it a 10 out of 10!!!"

"Home was in a great location with easy beach access and fantastic views. However, several issues included black mold on the mirrors in one bedroom, pool completely unfit for use, some bathrooms did not have any toilet paper at all, no bathrooms had any shampoo or hand soap (and this was not cautioned by the host), the couch showed visible stains (and it's on dark cloth), and the dishware was not clean. The host often took too long to respond (greater than 1-2 hours), so issues could not be resolved during our stay. As great as the location is, I would opt for alternate lodging options in the future."
