4/10 Poor

"There’s no car parking, you have to go pay at a car park around and the reception staff was rude and impatient. The security could not be bothered. To make matters worse, the shower in my room wasn’t working."

"On arrival, I was told my booking was cancelled “because I never paid” - it was booked as pay on arrival. So she said she’d check and then there was a room anyway… The corridors stink of smoke, the wall was filthy - I really don’t want to know what the white stuff was, judge for yourself. The toilet had a hole it in so leaked over the floor. The shower had less pressure than squirting a bottle of water over yourself, the TV didn’t work. They provide you tea and coffee but no kettle… weird. You have to ask for one. We also had a light in our room that wouldn’t turn off so I had to take the lightbulb out. Again, weird. Looks, let’s be honest, for £55 for the night when Take That were on, it was never going to be great. I was there for 8 hours and if you just need somewhere to lay your head and don’t care about the rest, it’ll “do.” This place needs to just be taken over, given some TLC and I’m sure it would be as great as it (probably was) back in the 70s."

"Check in staff were helpful key didn’t work on arrival and asked to change rooms as was solo traveller next to lots of rooms with kiddos. Bar staff all friendly and good. Room comfortable and clean some cilit bang black mould remover wouldn’t have gone a miss on silicone seal in shower. But comfy clean room would stay again!"

"The evening meal available consisted of a vegetarian or meat three course meal presented as a buffet.I thought the quality and value for money was excellent.Staff in the restaurant were very helpful and attentive as were all other staff in the hotel. I enjoyed my stay whilst attending a conference nearby."

"No parking at this property is an issue and paying for parking only adds to the cost. Rooms were a good size but the beds are small considering the space that there is. Quilts are great if the weather is cold but the room is warm and even with aircon on and set at 20 degrees we were hot. Ugly cumbersome mugs to drink a cup of tea from. Breakfast is average."
