"Really impressed with the resort overall. Very well suited for families with young children with water park, entertainment. Not a good spot for people who want an adult only environment. Food at the restaurants was great except for the Steakhouse Restaurant which we were a bit disappointed in the quality of the food. No lineups to get in to the restaurants and nice variety to choose from. Our room (3032) was exceptional with an amazing view of the pool and ocean sunsets over the mountains. Our family in room 118 had sewer smells in their bathroom that was never resolved. Housekeeping restocking was rarely fully done. Not an huge issue for us but we always seem to be missing something, soap refill or facecloths or towels which would be resolved a day or two later."

"We loved our stay here. The home is spacious & well kept, & in a good central location to many of the places we wanted to visit along the coast. Ernesto the caretaker was on site the whole time & helped us when needed. There was one day that our water line broke, but Ernesto had it fixed within a few hours. Maria was amazing; we were told there would be someone coming to clean/pick up, but we had no idea she would come daily, clean the entire house/pool/patio, & insist on doing all our personal laundry & dishes. What a treat! We especially enjoyed the pool area & spending time on the terrace overlooking the amazing ocean views & witnessing the abundance of tropical birds. The only “drawbacks” were the non-air conditioned common living area & kitchen (the bedrooms are cooled very well), but apparently this is the standard in Costa Rican homes. Also, the beach is more than the 300 paces away as advertised, it is more like a 10-minute walk. The nearest beaches were our favorites of all the beaches we visited during our stay, & it’s a very easy walk other than the steep driveway. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay & I would highly recommend it!"

"The ocean in the area had a stinging creatures which made it non-enjoyable. We had to go to a neighboring town to swim in the ocean. The locals said that these creatures are present in the ocean from November till April. The pool at the hotel is relatively small: only 5-6 people would fit comfortably in it. "

"The view is obviously incredible, which is what the resort relies on. The staff were nice enough, but lacked management and training in certain areas. Had they been more attentive, we would have spent more money. The food was well cooked but the menus are a little odd. After paying so much to stay at the hotel, it's then disappointing to have to compete with public visitors to get tables in the restaurant. I'm shocked the property has been open less than 10 years; it needs a lot of maintenance. The water pressure is non-existant (shower is disappointing and even worse when irrigation is running), tiles are missing in both the main and the in-room pool. The main pool needs a deep clean, moss and black mould in the grout lines (black floating around in the pool). Shortage of pool towels, which have seen better days. Our bi-folding patio doors only partially opened, and we heard others talking about the same by the pool. We visited in dry season so whilst not expecting lush green landscaping, lights, wiring and irrigation all out the ground was disappointing to see. The areas behind the pool where nobody looks and between rooms is littered with rubbish and buiding materials. Whilst not the hotel's problem, the little make-believe town of Las Catalinas is extremely overhyped. Its still being built and its nothing. It reminded us on a Disney back lot set. Fake buildings with nobody in them. The beach and sea are lovely but quite busy with locals and visiting tourists. "

"The house and our stay was amazing! Maricela (House Mom) was so kind and kept everything tidy for us. Don’t miss the view from the rooftop deck, especially at sunset. We loved the pool area as well. Be sure to get a four-wheel-drive vehicle if you’re staying here or driving to any attractions… there are some bumpy roads on the way from the airport. Thank you for the beautiful vacation spot! "

"Beautiful and expansive classic villa with unique character. Incredible ocean views, especially at sunset from the balcony and infinity pool. Wonderful cook service, versatile menu that was deliciously executed by a flexible team that never disappointed. Great location with a variety of beaches, restaurants and shops nearby. Professional and timely communication with our VRBO host who was accommodating and helpful. We had 6 adults, 4 kids and a baby in our group and the property and local area was perfect for us. Our stay could not have been better, highly recommended. "
