"Dundee Malmaison is looking a bit dated, rooms are spacious but with tiny windows, which is a shame as the views across the Tay Estuary are pretty stunning. Loading/drop off beware, we incurred a £50 penalty because we exceeded 10 minutes and the reception desk gives you no warning, which is mystifying. A tiny detail, which can ruin your impression of the stay."
"Relatively affordable and fuss-free experience with clean and well-maintained rooms and amenities. Only downside is that the breakfast menus stayed the same throughout the stay, but that’s fine."
"Nice hotel and room, with lovely common spaces as well. We did not use the restaurant as ate out in the city including breakfast from a great little cafe van near the V&A but this is a good amenity should you need it
Only thing I’d mark this down for is the location - it’s not the nicest walk into the city centre whichever route you take so other hotels are probably better located if you’re arriving by train but this has parking if you’re coming by car"
"The flat was bright and clean and had everything you could possibly need. The host was very responsive. lovely & thought of everything. There was a clothes washer, oven, drying rack, iron/ironing board, freezer, all the plates and kitchen tools you can dream of, extra paper and cleaning supplies. Would have liked better coffee maker. I bought a French Press. An espresso machine machine would have been awesome! Carpets had stains, wooden flooring would improve the look. Beds need fluffier pillows. The location was unbeatable. Everything was within walking distance. Most importantly, Marks and Spencers was 5 mins walk. Got loads of groceries there and enjoyed cooking in many nights. Also a huge Tesco super center is about 20 minutes walk towards the rail station. The city center was 5 mins, bus station 1 min, the Quayside 1 min, the Tay Riverfront promenade including the V&A museum 3 mins, rail station 10 mins. I walked to Lochee every day to visit my mum. A great Indian buffet was literally across the street called Taza. Milas Turkish cafe, my favorite place in Dundee was about 8 mins walk. Only downside - the street noise at night. Very hard to sleep. VERY. Between the intersection with two traffic lights 100 yards apart right outside the window where cars revved and raced engines non-stop, the drunks on the weekend, the bus station around the corner and the flocks of screaming seagulls all night long, sleep was a huge challenge for me. I highly recommend ear plugs."
