"Fantastic location. Ideal for what we needed but also really rural-feeling and peaceful. We found it quiet and charming. We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. It was good to know there are badgers around although we weren’t lucky enough to see anyway. The dawn chorus was impressive. Very pleasant indeed. Definitely will book again if we’re back in the area. "

"The Keelman is a gem. It is a county style pub. I had a room is an anex which was quiet and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpfully and welcoming. I had a meal which was reasonably priced and very satisfying. I tried the beer - of course and The Bishop is an excellent real ale. The pub is beside the Country park and the river, which made for a very enjoyable walk"

"Great restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. The room was comfortable, although it was a little tired, with some damage to the furniture. The bathroom could also do with updating. That said, the food was excellent, and I would definitely eat here again."

"The water output in thw shower is not as strong as we would like it to be. The sink is clogged with hair from previous guests. We stayed for 2 nights and they did not refill our rooms with water. They took our small towels on the first day of cleaning but did not replace it with new ones."

"Hedgefield House is quiet, comfortable, and has great charm. The garden and grounds are beautiful. The staff are not at all intrusive, but very helpful. We had two nights only, but I'd have been happy to spend more time there, and to enjoy the place. On the downside, there is no restaurant, but you can't have everything! There was plenty of in-room refreshment. I have family in the area, and I hope to stay at Hedgefield House again on my next visit."

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Winnie Cottage! We spent eight nights there and found it to be a wonderful home base for exploring the surrounding area. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were even greeted with a lovely basket filled with all kinds of goodies, which was such a thoughtful touch!After a day of sightseeing, we loved coming back to the cottage and relaxing in the hot tub. It was the perfect way to unwind in the evenings.Michelle and Mark were excellent hosts. They provided us with great information about the house and were always quick to respond whenever we had a question.We would definitely recommend Winnie Cottage to anyone staying in the area. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return!"

"We honestly had such a lovely stay here! Everything was super clean, comfortable, and well looked after. From the moment we arrived, we felt really welcomed and at home. The property was exactly what we needed; clean, cosy, and comfortable, and it was clear that a lot of care had gone into keeping everything in great condition. We really enjoyed our stay and had absolutely no complaints. Shops nearby as well, with beautiful back garden to the rear like in the photo. We would definitely stay here again and would happily recommend it to others. 10/10 from us! 😊"

She’s 9 months old so the national park right on the doorstep for dog walking was an added bonus. The accommodation exceeded expectations, lovely and clean with everything we needed on hand. A perfect weekend!"
