Absolutely shocking! I cannot believe this is a 4 Star Hotel. The room was so close to the road and trains passing that it was impossible to sleep. The downstairs restaurant was closed so the upstairs was catering. Customers were screaming at staff who told them that it was a temporary kitchen situation that wasn't set up for dinner. The morning after I had something drop on my head in the shower and it was pieces of plasterboard. It was obviously coming apart from steam of the shower and hadn't been repaired. I called the reception and got the night porter who was quite rude and told me I'd have to go down to reception as they had forgotten to undivert the phone. The hotel room just lacks simple things. No PowerPoint at my side of the bed. Vanity nowhere near plugs to use hairdryer. Just an utterly terrible night in this place. I rarely review but honestly, I just couldn't believe how poor it was. Reception just said sorry I'll talk to maintenance. I would never stay here again.

Good hotel, great location.
Nice hotel and good location. Lots of parking. Rooms was spacious but extremely warm. Food was good but service was slow, possibly understaffed. Car park was noisy at night with people leaving the bar so if you’ve got kids or are a light sleeper, ask for a room that’s not overlooking the car park on a weekend

Good but little things forgotten
Grand hotel, I arrived late and had to leave early so could not try spa facilities or breakfast. Girl on reception was welcoming, I went to my room and slightly dated but overall nice. I realised I had no toilet roll so went to reception which was swiftly dealt with. I looked at the restaurant menu which looked very good, but too late to I went back to my room and thought I’d have a cup of tea before before, unfortunately there were no tea bags, I then also noticed I only had one towel. Seems like my room was semi made up. I was given a nice pack lunch to take with me at 6:30 am with fresh sandwich, cookies and fruit.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Food was very good and excellent value. Overall the hotel is clean but carpets and fabric covered chairs are tired and stained and bathroom fittings chipped.

The hotel staff and accommodation was excellent I would recommend it to anyone the food was very good and reasonably priced so all in all a great place to stay and the town is on a 5 minute walk and a lovely town with great shops

From arriving at reception to check-out every thing was hazzle free. The staff were so friendly. The food was excellent. Wine reccomdations were excellent. Have no complaints about our two night stay. Hotel catered for everything. Will be back.

Room on the ground floor facing the courtyard, close to the reception and lounge. Noisy. No safe in the room, very disappointing. Room itself old fashioned but clean; large in size with a comfortable bed. Free parking on site. 10 min walk to the town centre. Welcoming staff in the reception as well as waiting staff at the breakfast. Overall, would stay there again if had a nicer room offered.

The staff are what makes this hotel. We received excellent service from each member of staff. Rooms are large & clean, but furniture could do with updating-nothing wrong with them, just a little outdated.

We went for dinner and we’re told by the waiter that for our meal both me and my girlfriend would get €30 each off our meal. We were very happy and splashed out and got expensive meals. After finishing our meal they told us that this deal didn’t apply to us and we had to pay full price and we’re very rude and wouldn’t compensate us at all. This ruined our evening. We rang the hotel and they said they would get back to us and have ignored us since. We are now going to go public soon unless they can get back to us soon as we were very dissatisfied

Sunny weekend trip
Perfect location, within walking distance of town, free parking on site. Very clean well maintained hotel. Bedroom was very big, plenty of space for us as a couple. Very happy with the free bottle of wine & chocolates aswell as bathrobes & slippers to use during stay. Happy to be at the end of the corridor as it was a busy weekend for families. Dissapointed with the extremely slow service in both the restaurant for dinner on our 1st evening. We ate in the outdoor terrace upstairs. Likewise, service in the outdoor bar terrace was very slow. We left early, cancelling a drink order that was taking more than 30 mins.... This service improved on our 2nd evening so there must have been a staffing problem. Both breakfast services were very good and food was delicious. Good variety for all dietary needs. Despite the slow service for dinner & bar, we would stay again & recommend it to others as it may have been a staffing issue on that particular weekend.

Wont be staying there again.
We booked our double family room and at first everything seemed fine,we were looking forward to it and had requested a cot for our baby girl before we arrived. We got there and were told that they only accept credit cards for payments not visa debit. This was the first issue... we got to our room lovely designs and our baby was toddling along the floor and had stood on an earring left from the previous guests and also still no cot to be seen so requested it once more and still didnt recieve it after asking twice and being told yes. Ten o clock came and our daughter still had nowhere to sleep so we went to reception AGAIN and finally were given a cot...not acceptable. By the time me n hubby finally got to lie down we noticed there was red hairs on hubby's pillows and stubble on my own. We had a single bed beside our double so went to change the pillows over and noticed foundation on them pillows also. The room looked like its had been tidied but nothing changed or cleaned we were disgusted. The only saving grace was the food in the hotel it was absolutely lovely,to really high standard,but again there was a problem as we werent allowed eat outside and were told we could only eat inside which is a joke considering the heat this week. We will not be staying in this hotel again and id suggest to wait until after covid due to understaff.they are putting pressure on cleaners as they are understaffed and the jobs arent getting done properly.

The staff wee very friendly and helpful and the bar food was amazing! Great family atmosphere , although we stayed as a couple it looked very child friendly. It’s only a few minutes drive to some of the best beaches on the east coast. Would gladly return for a meal in the bar or another weekend break. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very unimpressed with general attitudes of staff
The receptionist was brilliant when i checked in and after that the levels of service we encountered were very poor. The way myself and my partner were spoken to showed anything but good hospitality. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of service shown to us in the Ivy bar and given the prices we were paying coupled with star rating we were very unimpressed. I had to keep on asking for the cutlery, menu, drinks and no table was laid out for us when we decided to eat in the bar. I constantly had to call for drinks and attention. The general tone of the staff in the restaurant was very poor and dismissive. We were so disappointed and i was so impressed with the receptionist to be then given this level of service. Even in the bedroom corridors, the housekeeping staff failed to smile despite me smiling at them. Not what i expected at all.

Dear Vimi, I am very disappointed having read your review. We certainly do have a lot of new staff and we are in the midst of coaching and training them. 50% of our service staff are new and while we have done a lot of pre-opening training, they really need to learn in live service situations. We have recruited particularly with hospitality and personality in mind so I am surprised that you encountered such negativity. We opened on wed 2nd and are barely 3 days into opening so there will definitely be service gaps along the way. I stayed here in August for a couple of days. The food in the restaurant and the bar is very good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the room we had, it was in dire need of upgrading, the view from the window was a brick wall and it had an 'old' smell. We couldn't find sockets beside the beds, there were some on the opposite side of the room. The shower was in the bath with a shower curtain and had seen better days - old fashioned and tarnished at the handles. The room was very dark and didn't make you want to relax there. The hotel pool is also dated and needs upgrading. My 13 year old son went once for a swim and wouldn't go back. Very disappointing and not what I would consider a 4*.

Great facilities, particularly the gym. Got lunch in the bar deli and it was gorgeous. Only flaw is the check in is late at 4pm which isn’t ideal for people travellong
