"The building is beautiful and the location can’t be beat. excellent in both respects. Where I was disappointed was the lack of basic room service. There is no regular housekeeping, and getting essentials like toilet paper, trash removal or fresh towels was unexpectedly difficult. I had to call multiple times for towels, and they weren’t delivered until I went down to the front desk hours later. Even then, the toilet paper I requested was never brought, and we ultimately had to take a roll from a public restroom. This might be understandable if expectations were clearly communicated upfront, but for a hotel of this caliber, guests reasonably expect trash removal, restocked supplies, and clean towels without having to chase them down. "

"The room was nice and spacious, but not very clean. The floors were sticky, there were smears and stains on the bathroom walls, the tables throughout the room had some sticky smears. Our bathroom sink barely drained and was very slow. I had a few cold showers during our 3 night reservation. We did notify the front desk and hotel messaging about the issues and was told that the drain would be fixed first thing in the morning, the floors would be cleaned to remove the maple syrup smell and stickiness, and the boiler would be reset to improve the water temp. Not one housekeeping or maintenance visit occurred during our stay. The front desk was pleasant and friendly and did reset the water for us to have a warm shower the final night. The breakfast was underwhelming and the breakfast area was dirty. We will be staying at a different location the next time we visit San Antonio. "
