2 Bed in Madley (oc-c29692)

Ideal for anglers, walkers and wildlife lovers, this handsome lodge is one of a pair located at the head of a fishing lake, deep in the Wye Valley. It features an open-plan living space with views across the water, two bedrooms and an outdoor terrace. With walks on your doorstep plus golf courses, National Trust gardens and the city of Hereford nearby, your break can be as busy or laid-back as you''d like.

Surrounded by beautiful Herefordshire countryside, this single-storey holiday home sits close to the water''s edge at a well-established fishery, with a working farm close by. Inside, the wide entrance hall leads into a light and airy open-plan living room where the lounge area has comfortable seating and TV, plus fully glazed doors offering lake views. The dining area is conveniently close to the kitchen at the rear of this space, where you''ll find all the self-catering essentials. Off the main hallway, two bedrooms - one a double and the other a spacious twin - plus a family bathroom complete the comfort and convenience for all. There''s an open aspect to the front of the lodge; sit out on the terrace and look across the water, or enjoy a stroll in the grounds around the three angling lakes - there''ll be birds and other wildlife to spot as you wander. The neighbouring lodge can be booked to accommodate a further four guests and two pets; please ask us for details.

If country pursuits are your passion, coarse fishing and DIY livery are both available by arrangement on site. Just a mile away, Madley has a village store and tennis courts plus a pub and golf club on its outskirts, while a 4-mile drive in the opposite direction will take you to the National Trust''s dog-friendly Weir Garden. The vibrant market town of Hay-on-Wye is 16 miles - host of the famous literary festival and home to a weekly market, it''s also where you can join the stunning Offa''s Dyke Path. Just 8 miles in the opposite direction, Hereford''s cathedral - complete with medieval Mappa Mundi and Chained Library - is a must-see.
