"You must read-up on what to expect at the queen’s hotel. It may or may not be for you. It feels like stepping back in time. The place is a little shabby in places but if you want to have that feeling of living a bit of history it delivers. It’s an excellent location and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The pool offers a break from the noise of town and just generally- bring your ear plugs! We really enjoyed our stay."
"The hotel is kept in great condition, the morning breakfast buffet has a good selection of western and Sri Lankan food. The rooms are spacious, the minibar is complementary, beds are comfy and you’re staying right next to the temple and a short walk from the lake."
"Lovely hotel right on the water staff as lovely tradition of lighting candles and nice welcome juice . Close enough to walk to where you need to go also good breakfast "

Discover colonial-era relics and Sri Lanka’s most revered religious site at this romantic city nestled amid the undulating landscapes of the Hill Country.
If you're arriving via train in the dark, make sure you know how you're getting to your accommodation. We liked the cultural dance, botanical gardens (short drive out), and slightly chilled lounge for a sunset beer on a rooftop.

Nature and Greenery blended with City Life - wonderful place to spend a few days.

We liked the beautiful lake and Temple of the Tooth but were disappointed by food options in town: reviews are either too generous to say the least or just fake or perhaps given by people who knows little how to eat well!

Like everywhere in Sri Lanka the tuk tuk drivers are very intense and try to upsell on everything. Very interesting historical areas, temple of the tooth is great.

Not terribly exciting or attractive old city, but a good setting off point for day trips eg to the tea plantations and Nuwara Eliya, and Surigiya.

"The room was clean and the facilities OK. Was glad I had bought my own toiletries and there were only 4 coathangers - not enough for two women! Asked for more but not available.
Buffet was good and the staff absolutely lovely. Would I stay here again? Yes"
"Staff are absolutely spot on, on the ball, very friendly. The hotel is very clean, rooms have amazing views over the valley. The rooms here were some of my nices on my trip to Sri Lanka. Naughty Monkeys pay a visit occasionally too! Its little put of town but going downhill, ypu can be in the centre of Kandy by walking in 10 mins. Coming back.... get a Tuk tuk! "
