"The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful in locating the best room for our preferences. In addition to the bedroom furniture, it seems that the hotel common areas and grounds have been recently remodeled. However the bathrooms, windows, and doors are in desperate need of an upgrade. The hotel is very close to the airport so it can be convenient but when the planes went overhead it was very loud, and the walls are so thin we could hear the people in the next room conversing. We were worried about the small window air conditioner not working well, but it cooled off nicely. "

"Mike was a great host and gave us easy ideas about entertaining kids. Also directions to find food and other services nearby. The place is like a dormitory, no frills, but everything you need for preparing you own food and getting a good nights rest. It’s an older lodge but everything was sparkling clean and well-maintained. I’d recommend it to friends."

"The location of this rental is perfect! Carl smith is literally steps away, and we had so much fun taking my daughter to explore different areas. There’s an excellent restaurant across the street and it’s close to many other main Hilo spots. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, building feels very safe, and there were lots of fun extras like beach and pool toys, pack and play, etc. The neighbors and other folks in the building were kind and welcoming. Check in was quite easy and straightforward, and we were quickly welcomed by our on island contact via text. We would stay again. Only issues were construction right outside the unit with scaffolding in front of the balcony and workers coming and going and making quite a bit of noise at times, but I assume this is temporary and will be done soon. "
