"The location of the condo was nice - right at Carlsbad Beach. However, it is not a private beach as stated in the listing, but a public beach that was quite crowded. The condo was clean but it is quite dated. Many of the pots and pans were old and scratched, there was an oven pan that was so caked with previous residual from whatever was baked on it, it was unusable. One bedroom faces the ocean and you have the ocean sounds at night, but the second bedroom faces the street and it was so loud at night, my son had difficulty sleeping. The hosts were responsive - we had an issue with parking and they cleared it up quickly. "

"Balcony chair webbing was ripped open. There were tears in the drapery lining, Fridge and ice bin were in the bathroom > unpleasant double duty for bath vanity. NO MICROWAVE! The toilet/bathtub room was as dimly lit as a 15 watt lightbulb. The bathroom exhaust system wasn't working leaving the room soaked with moisture. The towel rack above the toilet had large areas of rusty bare metal. The grunge factor was everywhere. Upgrades have been done with new paint and tile but done on the cheap with unskilled labor. Tile corners were rough. Overpaint on doorknobs and towel hooks. Ceiling light by balcony door looks like it has been there since the 1970s. The very small desk area was directly under the TV. Power outlet on the desk lamp was so worn out a power cord would not stay in contact. The next closest power outlet was 8 feet away under the small table, or, it was in the mishmash of cords behind the desk that served the cable boxes. Wi-Fi was inconsistent and kept disconnecting. And after a power failure it never came back before we left. Why wasn't the hotel's system better surge protected? The noisy bar had an entertainer that thought distorted volume made up for lack of talent. The bar's Mai Tai was the worst EVER. I bottled cocktail would have been better. It tasted like canned orange juice. I ordered two Mai Tais and a French dip sandwich to go. Mai Tais were made right away. The drink ice had melted before the sandwich was served... with no dip sauce or napkins."

"Incredibly good deal for the price. No elevator but my unit was a mini apartment with sofa bed, kitchenette stocked with utensils, cookware and real plates and glasses. Fridge/freezer was much larger than the under counter units in bigger chain hotels. There was even a washer/ dryer. Better than an Extended Stay in that regard. Hotel manager was easily accessible by phone to answer questions and deal with a complicated booking situation. Got it resolved quickly and extremely favorably. Parking was free and very close to the building. 12 spaces advertised but the last two were in the exit driveway. No one wanted to back out of the driveway onto the street (no turn around) or get hit so didn't park in those spaces. Some small things that would make it even better: I actually baked a pizza in the toaster oven. Hot mitts would have been nice. A small trash can under the kitchen sink would be nice. Beats walking into the bathroom or living room after wiping up spills. Couldn't tell if the remote control for room comfort did anything. The settings changed on the remote but not on the unit inside the room. I would definitely stay there again."

"Wonderful staff! Very close to the airport, downtown, and stadium. Room was clean. If you are traveling with anyone who has mobility issues, some rooms are located far from the lobby. There are no stairs for rooms on the upper level. We could hear people outside of our room passing by and talking and going up the stairs with their luggage. Hard to fall asleep with the noise. "

"Great property managed by customer oriented property owner. Great communication and plenty of tips to enjoy the Big Island. Property could not be located a prettier location and the thousand small touches in the house made it difficult to want to leave and explore the island. The abundance of items supplied truly showed an owner who wanted his customers to enjoy their vacation. Many thank Richard"
