So lovely to be back in Whinny Brow again and to see the additional amount of care taken this year to ensure that it was clean and safe. Whinny Brow was as always very comfortable and great to come home to after a day's walking. Keswick and Derwentwater are within easy walking distance and there are a number of excellent walks which start 'from the Moot Hall'.
Although we do not use it regularly, it was also good to find that WiFi is now available there.
The views to Latrigg and Skiddaw across the fields were stunning, whether bathed in sunshine or covered in low cloud.

Sadly my wife cleaned the lounge windows and kitchen and french doors on arrival due to handprints which was disappointing to have to do. Due to covid we also washed crockery before use and found a large piece of broken glass on shelf and some plates had evidence of tomato sauce. Also window cills had not been wiped as evidence of dust, dead fly and cobwebs. Splashback above bathroom basin was full of dust. Items of food left in kitchen cupboard assumed by previous occupant. All of this is addressed under "cleaning" . The only other item was it may be time for owner to consider replacing sofas as they are extremely low, lost their support and we remember these from a previous stay over 11+ years ago. It was good to see WiFi was installed during our stay but contractor left lights on in lounge and cupboards open when he left and we were not present. It was our understanding that the owner was to accompany the contractor in our absence. I do not believe this happened.

This was our second year at Burnside and we are already looking forward to being able to return next year. The site is so well maintained and the lodges are all in excellent condition. With two young children (7 and 9), the site is perfect as it has enough space for them to explore whilst also being very safe and quiet.
Whinny Brow is equipped to a very high standard and has an excellent shower, very well equipped kitchen (freezer, microwave, hob, oven, fridge) and comfortable bedrooms. It was spotlessly clean on arrival.
With cycle paths into Keswick and quiet lanes out to Borrowdale, Skiddaw and beyond Burnside it is an excellent base for exploring this beautiful part of the Lakes. Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn are all very easily accessed.

A comfortable cabin in a superb location.
A comfortable cabin in a superb location. The new shower installation is a great improvement and the freezer makes meal-planning easy.
The small patio table and only two chairs meant it was not possible to have meals on the verandah, so a larger table and extra chairs would be appreciated.
