Convenient location.

This hotel is next door to Edinburgh Waverley station, so for us arriving via train it was perfect, however if the lower entrance is not open you will need your climbing legs as to reach it there is a set of about 60 steps to ascend or a walk round the block to avoid the stairs. It is a few steps from the Royal Mile so easy access to many of the attractions along there. The staff are really helpful and welcoming and as we arrived early they took our bags from us and placed them in our room when it was ready. The room was spacious and very clean, comfortable and incredibly quiet - we heard no street noise or from the wedding party that was there the night we arrived. The hotel has a small cinema attached which is in a wonderful art deco design with sumptuous seats and allows you to take in the drinks you buy at the bar there and you get a discount if staying at The Scotsman. Overall a wonderful stay and when visiting Edinburgh again we will be staying there.

The breakfast was absolutely wonderful, the staff was amazing, location was perfect!

We paid almost £400 for the comfort double room, the room was the size of a storage room. The bed restricted the bathroom door from opening, the shower was broken on arrival and the staff weren’t in a hurry to get it fixed. The view from the window was a brick wall and the loose floor boards were extremely loud when trying to sleep. The doors in the hall way also slam shut which can be heard in the room too. Definitely not worth the money paid and the pictures are deceiving to what you actually get
