Comments from previous guests include: 'We have rented self catering accommodation in Europe for about 15 years and have always been very clear on the standards and specification that we want. Without question yours is the best equipped and highest quality chalet that we have rented, and had the added bonus of feeling like home.' SC
The chalet is located in the heart of the Lauterbrunnen Valley which is regarded as one of the most spectacular glacial valleys in Europe. Located in the Swiss Alps and surrounded by unspoilt natural beauty it is famous for the cascading 300m high Staubbach waterfall, which becomes even more impressive when illuminated at night. It is also the perfect base for exploring the mountain ranges of Jungfrau / Schiltorn / Breithorn and is the starting point to the car free resorts of Wengen and Murren.
Food is always an important part of any holiday and there are a variety of restaurants within a 15 minute walk of the chalet serving traditional swiss dishes plus a more varied menu and the food is excellent. If you want to cook yourself, the apartment is well equipped and groceries are available in the shop opposite the apartment or in Lauterbrunnen village. Here you will find a butchers, bakery, cheese shop and small supermarket.- or why not visit a local farm and buy some milk or cheese straight from the cow!!!
LAUTERBRUNNEN IN WINTER:
Lauterbrunnen is a perfect base for a winter holiday with ski lifts open from early December to mid April each year (subject to snow conditions). There are 45 mountain trains, cable cars, chair and ski lifts, with 213km of pistes for skiers and boarders. Also 100km of winter hiking and cross country paths, and 50km of sledge runs; with the cross country course running near to the apartment. There are also excellent English-speaking ski schools based in Wengen and Murren which also offer childcare facilities.
For the adventurous skier there is the Lauberhorn run above Wengen, venue each January for the Ski World Cup; or the wonderful 16km long run from the top of the Schiltorn back to Lauterbrunnen, rated as one of the best runs in the world with stunning views. The apartment provides easy access to both ski resorts with the ski bus stopping outside the apartment. Take the bus to Lauterbrunnen station (3 mins) then use the train to access skiing above Wengen or the cable car to access Murren skiing; or take the bus in the opposite direction to Stechelberg (7 mins) to access further skiing and the cable car to Schiltorn. What a great base to explore the Jungfrau Ski Region!!!
For the active holidaymaker you can enjoy activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoe trekking, sledging, paragliding, curling and heli-skiing. However for the more sedate there are reduced price passes for non-skiers so that you can enjoy the fabulous scenery or meet up for lunch. The revolving restaurant at the top of the Schiltorn should not be missed and further afield there are lovely shops and cafes in Grindelwald and Interlaken. It is also possible to take a boat ride on the lake year round.
LAUTERBRUNNEN IN SPRING/SUMMER:
In Spring / Summer Lauterbrunnen is an excellent base for exploring the Jungfrau region. You can take the train up to Jungfraujoch (the highest railway and restaurant in Europe) or the cable car to Schiltorn/Piz Gloria, film location of James Bond.

Leave the apartment in glorious sunshine and temperatures in the 20's and take the train from Lauterbrunnen station to the 'Top of Europe' were you can speed over glacier cravasses safely attached to a steel cable. Rent skis or snowboards at the top or why not try sledging or snow tubing in the powder snow of the alps.

Has amazing views of the waterfalls and a comfortable outdoor patio to enjoy the views. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need. A wonderful place to stay in thr valley!
We had a wonderful four days at this VRBO in Lauterbrunnen. We could walk to town for shopping and dinners. The bus stop was across the street for a quick trip to the gondola to Piz Gloria. We made breakfast every morning and one fondue dinner!!

This place was amazing! My kids are still talking about the place by the waterfall with the stuffed puppies! The apartment was huge and very clean. They had a travel crib and huge kitchen. They also had a huge bin of Lego and children’s movies which were huge hits with the kids! Very close to an amazing playground and a bus stop right out front. We would definitely stay here again!
Our family of three (husband/wife + 17yo) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable and we finally found decent pillows here. Washer/dryer was appreciated as well.
The location allowed for easy walking access to restaurants within Lauterbrunnen. It was also quick driving access (or bus/train) to the lovely towns of Interlaken and Grindelwald. I also recommended the quick 5 minute ride up to Stengelberg to begin your memorable journey up to the top of Schilthorn! It’s 1/3 the price of going up Jungfraujoch!
This was an exceptional property. We have been staying at hotels throughout our stay so this was our first VRBO facility. It was so nice to have separation with bedrooms, etc. This was a wonderful property with a well equipped kitchen and great couches. I was able to watch my Netflix on the television. The patio was very relaxing. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone. Helen(the host) was very communicative and actually allowed us to stay an extra hour on our departure date. I would love to stay here again if my travels ever come through Switzerland. A highly recommended unit
We stayed at this property in the summer. It was perfect for a family of 4. A lot of space to spread out. The location gave us easy access to town, but away from the bustle of downtown. I gave it a 4 out of 5 for location because it is located near a busy road. With the windows open, you heard all the trucks, cars, and people go by. The apartment was very clean, but a bit musty when we got there. We left the windows and large patio doors open for a day and that helped a lot. Lauterbrunnen is a very wet area with the waterfalls and I think that contributed to the issues. We also brought a car and there was a parking spot right there. Super easy. For someone coming in from the train, with luggage, it would be a bit of a walk, but still doable. All in all, I would definitely rent this apartment again for a family vacation to the alps.
The apartment is perfect, the host very nice. The bus stop is just there, so you may not even need your car.

Modern chalet in perfect location
The property is well located in the beautiful Lauterbrunnen valley. It is approximately 15 mins walk from the train station and a bit less to village centre. The valley is perfect for walking and exploring the local Jungfrau region with excellent transport links to all the main attractions and an ideal base for visitors without a car. It is also convenient for visiting Bern/Lucern.
The property itself is modern and well equipped with an outside patio to enjoy the summer evenings.
Good location ..well maintained and completely equipped ..instant replies from Helen in times of my need..it felt like I was home.. v good experience for my parents and me.
Great property in a stunning location. The property had everything we needed and more. It was excellent for a family of four with young(ish) children . A real home from home. The kids loved the trampoline and we all loved the excellent movie collection, making fondue and playing the various boardgames! The short walk in to the centre of Lauterbrunnen was lovely, and only 2 mins on the bus if we were feeling lazy. The nearby pool and playground were great. The hiking options were superb. The sound of the cowbells and the waterfall crashing down the mountain were lovely to hear whilst sitting on the terrace in the evening. We were very happy and relaxed in Helen's property.

Great place to explore the Lauterbrunnen Valley
We very much enjoyed the time we spent at the Chalet!!
There were so many positives:
Helen was a remarkable owner to work with as she consistently responded in a timely manner (typically just an hour or 2) to my inquiries - ranging from delicious restaurant recommendations to help with the recycling rules. She gets 5 Stars!!
Her home is lovely: well-stocked (I cooked often), homey and comfortable. A great place to come home to after a long day of hiking and enjoying all that the area has to offer. Her home gets 5 Stars!!
It's an easy walk or bus ride to the train station, Coop grocery, cable car, and restaurants. Location gets 5 Stars!!
The only drawback for us was the apartment's proximity to the road and the campground across the street that made for a bit too much noise to keep the windows open. This may not be an issue at all for other folks but it was a downside for us

Wonderful week spent in Lauterbrunnen!
We recently returned home from a week long stay in this chalet. It had everything that we needed and more. Helen leaves detailed instructions for everything and if you have any further questions a simple email to her is returned in a timely manner. As other reviews have mentioned you have views of waterfalls off the back patio. The bus stop is conveniently located right across the street heading to Lauterbrunnen and, for most of the day, stops every 30 minutes. If you miss a bus then it is a beautiful 10 to 15 minute walk to the village center. My twin girls enjoyed the large variety of DVDs that were made available to watch.as we used that almost every evening. It was very nice to be able to open the doors and windows to let in the fresh mountain air and take in the sounds of the church bells. I had read previous reviews complaining about how loud the hostel is across the street. Let me assure you this was not an issue during our stay. Quiet time in the valley starts at 10pm and it was strictly adhered to. Another very nice amenity was the availability of a washer and dryer.
Overall, we had a wonderful time during our week and Lauterbrunnen is a great base to explore the area. The area is so beautiful and pristine and the locals were so friendly. My wife and I both agreed that a week was not long enough to visit this amazing country. We would not hesitate to stay here again if our travels bring us back to Switzerland!

Well equipped apartment in a great location
This was our second time to stay at the Hutton apartment. It is located in Lauterbrunnen, a great place to base out of when visiting this area of the Swiss Alps. The apartment is on ground level, very modern and spacious, and very well equipped. The Staubach Falls are right behind the building. The owner has very thoughtfully provided an excellent description of how everything works in the apartment, including instructions and translations for all the appliances. A stay here will spoil you!

great appartment
Never had such a great appartment before. Very nice and spacy, great funiture, nice modern style. For the summer, the appartment is perhaps a bit close to the stress but in the winter this is fine and the advantage is that we walked literally 20m to the bus stop with out skies and boots:) The bus comes 4 times an hour. Very convenient for skiying. The landlord was very helpful and responded prompty to questions. The town is nice and small, not mass tourism, and there are very convenient train connections to the skying areas.

Perfectly located
Property was well presented with all the amenities. It was v clean, and we had everything we needed. Only a short walk to the restaurants & shops. The playground is close too which was perfect (a description of it's location would have been handy.) The walks are awesome. We explored both sides of the valley, with amazing views. Loved it all!

A wonderful apartment in Lauterbrunnen!
Our family of 4 enjoyed a wonderful vacation in Lauterbrunnen. My husband and I had been to this area before, but we had not stayed in this apartment before. It was a great space for our son and 3 year old granddaughter who joined us this time. We loved being able to eat dinner out on the patio. Our granddaughter enjoyed her small bed. The furnishings were beautiful! Of course we spent most of our visit up in the mountains. We had a car, but for those who don't, the bus stops right in front of the apartment. We took the gondola up to Murren and then the cog train up to Allmendhubel. The view here is spectacular, and our granddaughter was able to enjoy an amazing playground at the top while the grown-ups took in the view. We decided to try out the walk called Kids Adventure Trail back to Murren. It was a very nice, easy hike down, with a fun zip line and a few other things to check out on the way down.
On our second full day, we drove to Zweisimmen to catch a stage of the Tour de France. On our last day, we had planned to take the train and gondola up to the Kleine Sheidegg, which we have done other years. We probably wouldn't have made the long hike back to Wengen with our 3 y.o. granddaughter, but that is a great hike to do. Because the weather was iffy, we decided instead to walk up the valley from the Stechelberg Gasthof. It was a very nice hike to a restaurant--about 1.5 miles each way.
The whole area is wonderful. We stopped in Kandersteg on the way in to Lauterbrunnen, also an area to explore. While in Lauterbrunnen, we walked each day to the park near the waterfall, and climbed up to the waterfall one day--recommend rain coat and waterproof shoes! Loved all the paragliders.
I highly recommend this rental and the area in general!

Lovely
Had a great three night stay here. You could see the waterfalls just outside. Included instructions were nice and well written. Everything was provided that we required. Plenty of space for the family. Provided DVDs, large collection were nice although due to the lovely weather we weren't able to make use of them. Made well use of the washer and dryer as this stop was mid way in our vacation.

Very spacious and comfortable.
A VERY spacious and comfortable apartment in an excellent location with bus stop right outside. Lovely warm apartment with lots of hot water. Easy to dry ski gear. Good DVD collection. Very helpful owner. Footpath to/from Wengan starts across road( through campsite), we had a lovely walk down in the snow. Footpath to river and into Lauterbrunnen nice in evening. Go across the bridge into Camping Jungfrau for closest (and nicest) Bar/Restaurant - only 5 mins walk. We would highly recommend this apartment.

Exceptional apartment in a great location
This apartment is spacious, comfortable, modern and very well appointed. The owner provides detailed instructions about everything from operating the washer/dryer to trash disposal. We slept well, and appreciated the modern, well-equipped kitchen. Having a washer and dryer available was a huge plus, as this was an active vacation, with lots of hiking in warm weather. The location in Lauterbrunnen was superb. We have visited many places of natural beauty, including New Zealand, Costa Rica, and the Norwegian fiords, but the beautiful Lauterbrunnen valley and surrounding Alps topped them all. While it was nice to be able to prepare dinner in the apartment, especially after a long day of hiking, we also had a wonderful dinner at the Hotel Oberland restaurant - excellent cuisine and service. We purchased the half-price vouchers for transportation in Switzerland, and came out WAY ahead by doing so. We did not hesitate to take advantage of the many cog railways, cable cars, etc. that wisk you to high elevations to start hikes and enjoy the incredible scenery. We definitely hope to return!

Lovely apartment in a disappointing location
This was a clean well equipped and well maintained apartment. However it is next to a busy road and a licensed backpacker hostel. The hostel did not enforce any curfew. For 6 out of 7 of our nights in the apartment we had Music and drunk rowdy young adults around the apartment until between 1 and 3 am.

A lovely apartment - but...
The apartment was very nicely furnished and comfortable except for the double bed which looked much bigger in the photo. It was quite a squash and we're not a large couple. Plus the duvet wasn't big enough to completely cover us without draughts - again it looked much larger in the photo. The outside seating area was large and comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The apartment was well placed for walking into Lauterbrunnen a good base for lots of walking/cycling and adventure activities.
However, the reason for only 4 stars is the noise from the campsite over the road as mentioned in a previous review. When I read that review I wasn't too worried but that's because I hadn't realised it was no ordinary campsite. It was party central way into the night every night. Backpackers and young people on Top Deck tour buses - up to 6 buses at a time - stayed here every night and partied like it was going out of fashion! The weather was particularly hot the 4 nights we were there but it so noisy we had to keep the windows closed - and could still hear them. One morning, early, after struggling to sleep with the constant noise, a young Aussie from one of the buses phoned his Mum in Australia and spoke in a very loud voice on the pavement outside until I asked him to move further away. We didn't appreciate having to share his conversation.
