"What a lovely room! We stayed in the Hill room with a garden view.
The home was beautifully appointed.
We enjoyed a great night sleep, and then breakfast in the dining room.
A walk around the property was the perfect ending.
Sorry we didn't get the chance to dine here, but Matthew had great
recommendations for us."

"Aspen Lodge is a lovely B and B situated a short drive from Oban so it's in a beautiful rural spot. Card and Bob warmly welcomed us. Our room was very comfortable with a spacious bathroom/shower. Our breakfast each morning was delicious with gf and vegan options. We highly recommend Aspen Lodge. "

"An amazing space to just be & chill out. B & B with decking, area with seating , cosy log cabin & spacious garden area overlooking tranquil loch. Seals can be seen bobbing about & red squirrels are a frequent visitor to the garden. The hosts are exceptionally welcoming and the breakfast includes croissants, fresh fruit & Loch Fyne smoked salmon.
The rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean.

"We stayed here for two nights in a Classic Twin Room in April 2026. The biggest positives were the excellent location and the staff, particularly reception and housekeeping, who were genuinely lovely and very helpful throughout our stay.
However, the hotel itself feels very tired and dated, with a sense of faded grandeur. Carpets throughout the corridors, public areas, and staircases were heavily worn in places.
A major concern was the spiral-style staircase. The steps are extremely narrow on one side, yet the bannister is positioned on that narrowest side rather than the wider side where support is most needed. This made the stairs feel quite dangerous, especially when carrying luggage. We also heard several other guests complaining about this. The lift was also extremely small and very slow for such a large hotel.
The bathrooms were clean and fairly modern, although basic and not especially well finished. Bedrooms were clean but dated, and the TV was tiny by modern standards. Drinks in the lounge/bar area were also surprisingly expensive.
One particularly worrying incident involved a friend staying in another room becoming trapped for a long while inside the bathroom after the door handle completely fell off late at night. As he has epilepsy, this was especially frightening and highlighted concerns around maintenance and safety.
Overall, the hotel has great staff and a fantastic central location, but it now feels in real need of refurbishment and improved maintenance."
"Really run down. In our room, the shower attachment distinegrated, the bathroom fan did not work, the toilet seat was broken, the electric face plate for the towel rail was smashed, the bathroom door had had 2 big holes filled, the carpet was stained. The entire hotel is run down and needs a full refurbishment. Outside, the beer garden has a fake rolled out lawn, cut badly around the edges with trip hazards. Avoid the restaurant. I ordered steak pie and mash. What I got was some meat in a dish with a puff pastry lid placed on top, a spoonful of mash that looked like it had been sitting around and a splodge of over-boiled frozen vegetables."
"Had a very pleasant overnight stay. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Plenty of hot water and good shower pressure.
This is an old building so it can't be compared with a modern structure, but it has plenty of charm. Very helpful staff. Didn't have breakfast, so can't comment. Would definitely stay again."
"Late May, fine weather and a very busy hotel. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to help everyone.
The setting, trees, shrubs and walks were spectacular and the food and drink first class.
A long way from our West Sussex home but worth it."
"This hotel was top-notch on every level. The staff was welcoming and helpful at every aspect of our stay. The restaurant was amazing and I would recommend eating here more than any other place in town, and that is not to discredit any other establishment...it's just that great!"
"Hotel in terrible state of disrepair. manhole cover covering something in the floor on the main upstairs corridor. Ceiling tiles missing from the roof in the stair well with insulation hanging down over the stairs. Gaps in the bottom of the fire exit door because the bottom of the door is rotten - god knows what can crawl through from outside. Room I stayed in was very dated. only 5 or 6 TV channels working. Breakfast area and bar area are nice. Breakfast itself was nice but wouldn't stay there again unless the hotel itself undergoes significant renovation"
