About this property
Lovely 3 Bedroom Apartment With Private Garden In Central London, Near Waterloo
Great Location - Most guests have noted that. Hot News....Brand New Bed Mattresses... The apartment actually has 3 double bedrooms. It is very central. Door to door – it’s a 3 to 4 minutes walk from the Bakerloo and Northern Lines Tube Stations and 7 mins walk from the Jubilee Line at Southwark Tube Station. (An accurate description in terms of times.) Garden Row is a short road - at the end of the road, there are 24 hour buses into the West End OR you can walk to the Houses of Parliament/Westminster in 15 minutes.
At the other end of Garden Row there are 24 hour buses to Shoreditch and the City of London – just across London Bridge. It is a 1 minute walk(accurate) to the Imperial War Museum and the park around it - I play tennis there and use the Café inside the Museum which is nice.
The Tate Modern and SouthBank is very close and a 10-12 minutes walk. I walk it twice a week. It's a nicely decorated 3 double bedroom flat in SE1 on two levels just by the South Bank and the River Thames.
The apartment has a separate kitchen with a small table and chairs, a good sized open plan style living room with a table and 6 chairs and a sofa and glass doors leading into the walled garden. It has one shower room and a separate toilet. The shower works well - not a dribble! - and is a good size. The three bedrooms are of equal size. The flat has Wifi. We have nice neighbours on the street and I tell them when I have people staying. Parking permits for your car are available, if you give me advance warning so you can park outside the flat. All towels and bedding etc is provided and whatever in the food cupboard is yours to use - tea, coffee, all the usual cooking condiments, breakfast cereals and anything else that happens to be there. I hope I'm a good host and hope to be flexible to what you need during your stay. Just ask.
It has a separate kitchen with a small table and chairs, a good sized open plan style living room with a table and 6 chairs and a sofa and glass doors leading into the walled garden. It has one shower room and a separate toilet. The shower works well - not a dribble! - and is a good size. Two of the bedrooms are of equal size and the third is slightly smaller but still a double room with a double bed, desk and wardrobe etc Each bedroom has plenty of hanging clothes space and shelving.
Guest access The guests have access to the whole flat. There's one storage cupboard full of junk/bits and bobs that I ask to be left alone.
Neighbourhood overview I've lived in and around there for 12 years. I like that I'm 2 mins from the Imperial War Museum and the park that it's set in - which means I can use the tennis courts and 5 a side football.
I have a 24 hour mini supermarket 1 min away - very useful! And various coffee places at the the top of the road.
There are 2 supermarkets within 5-7 minutes walk away.
And I'm close to the Southbank Centre where I hang out socially - eat and drink - and the River Thames where I jog along. Across the road from the flat, is a very good gym attached to Southbank University which you can use if you want to keep up your exercise regime while can get day passes. There's a new Italian food market and outside place full of stalls, loads of Italians who live in London shop and eat there. it's called Mercato Metropolitano and is about a 5 mins walk from the apartment. The streets called The Cut and Lower Marsh, SE1 respectively - are two well known streets full of shops, restaurants and pubs and only a 8-10 mins walk from the flat. On Saturday, you can walk to Borough Market - London's number one food market and great people watching!
Other things to note The flat is BRILLIANTLY located as many of the reviews point out. The Bakerloo and Northern Lines are 3 mins away - and there are buses anywhere you want to go, depending what you have planned to see while in London. When travelling to the flat - I always advise to get a taxi, particularly if you can share the cost - don't use Black Cabs/Taxis - they are very expensive - book a taxi online or Uber. If you want to use public transport, let me know from which airport/train station you're arriving at and I will give you the best way to get to the flat. Parking - if you know London, you'll know it's a nightmare to both drive around and park. If you let me know in advance that you will need to park a vehicle near or outside the flat I can arrange to buy parking vouchers which last one day each, that can be arranged.
DETAILS:
The address is 7 Newman House, Garden Row. SE1 6HE. Garden Row is a one way street and number 7 is on the left hand side as you are coming down. There is a tree like a palm tree in the garden - and the front door is bright yellow.

Where to get Keys for check in and entry The key box is under the window. The code is 4962....it is in the BIGGER box on the right. There are 2 keys - one key is in the key box and the other is inside on the table by the door. Both keys are for the top lock on the door, I don't use the bottom lock. I advise that you leave one key in the keysafe, in case you get locked out, there's always the key in the safe.
When Leaving on Last Day If I cannot be there on the day you leave Please leave one key on the table by the front door. Then, lock the door and leave the other key back in the key box under the window
Travel to the Apartment Coming from Heathrow You could either book an Uber or you can take the underground. Heathrow is on the Piccadilly Line.(Dark Blue) My nearest station is Elephant and Castle, on the Bakerloo Line(Brown) 3 mins walk from apartment or Southwark Station, on the Jubilee line (Silver) 7 mins walk.
If you get the tube to the Elephant and Castle - when on the platform, follow the signs for Southbank University (NOT the Shopping Centre)...Come out of the entrance, turn right, walk for about 3-4 mins and Garden row is on the left.
Rubbish/Garbage Turn left out of the apartment, walk 10 metres and there are large bins and recycling bins to leave your rubbish when you need to empty the trash can/bin in the kitchen.
Glass Back Door Please be gentle with it when you are opening and closing it. That is the only key at the moment - PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE IT. When opening, gently turn the key to the right and then lift up the lever handle, then slide open. Reverse to close.
Heating The heating is set by the portable heat gadget normally by the TV table. You can move the temperature up and down - I normally leave it at 20 degrees and turn it down when I go out and at night. Please be mindful to turn off etc with costs and usage. DO NOT TOUCH SETTINGS ON THE BOILER. THANKS
Supermarkets There is a 24 hour mini store on the corner of the road, a 1 mins walk away. But for bigger supermarkets - there is a Tesco and a Sainsbury's about a 5 mins walk away below
Nice places to eat and drink The Albert Arms is on Garden Row and a very nice pub https://thealbertarms.co.uk/
The Art Cafe, SE1 30 seconds walk. A good cafe selling coffee and sandwiches and breakfast and is open from 7am - and is 30 seconds walk from the apartment on the corner of Garden Row. Turn right out of the apartment. https://www.instagram.com/artcafelondon/
Starbucks About 5 mins walking https://maps.app.goo.gl/3gKA3rAUZu7DV1fo6
Mercato Metropolitano This is about a 7 mins walk away and is an outside eating area full of food and drink options. And there is a lovely Italian deli shop attached. Highly recommend. https://www.mercatometropolitano.com/ https://maps.app.goo.gl/jyg1kkw4PnB2PP2t5
Paladar is a lovely restaurant with a small garden at the back, lovely food. 4 mins walk away. https://www.paladarlondon.com/ https://maps.app.goo.gl/A3Rtw3VjXzYTqbbP8
Borough Market is an ESSENTIAL go to on a Saturday - it is really nice and lots to see and taste - it's much bigger than you think it is. https://maps.app.goo.gl/AnwGdecgqFnuofp26
Seabird If you want to go to a really swanky restaurant and bar - about a 15/20 mins walk - that has great views, it is on the 14th Floor - then this is worth trying. The bar and restaurant is inside The Hoxton Hotel. https://maps.app.goo.gl/TxECHhvoosMLvmJf6LS
