The Shore Hotel & Residences

The Shore Hotel & Residences

8/10 Good
"The hotel is managed with a 24-hr check in counter with housekeeping on standby, Daily room cleaning or towel change is not provided unless if you request for it. The breakfast provides a wide variety and the food was fresh and delicious. One downside is the elevator crowd during peak hours where we had to wait a long time for the elevator to arrive and a long time inside the elevator to reach our floor. The hotel tried to mitigate the situation by having a staff to operate the elevator but I am unsure how effective this is. As such, all travellers should plan their timings to accomodate this added waiting time. Location wise, the hotel is located in a central area with plenty of food options around. A short taxi ride away will bring you to major attractions. Overall, I still think it is a good hotel to stay in even with the minor inconveniences."

The Nest House

The Nest House

10/10 Excellent
"The Nest House is a small boutique hotel around a kilometer east of the old part (Chinatown/Jonker Walk) of Malacca. The hotel is off the main street, so it's quiet, and the property is well-designed and well-cared for. The staff are friendly and attentive and I had a great stay (just over a week). The hotel is shoes-off at the front door, and there's no gym or pool or restaurant or any of that. There are plenty of excellent food options nearby, including a shopping mall with a supermarket, and it's easy and inexpensive to get a Grab to Chinatown/Jonker where there are even more options. I would definitely stay again."

"[WHAT WE LOVED] EVERYTHING! Location (within 10 minutes walk to Jonker Street), clean, spacious, lights on bathroom mirror (convenient for make up), direct USB charger, nice bed and pillows and bolsters, water dispenser, friendly and helpful staffs, no smoking hotel! Overall it's a big big like for ibis! ——— ——— ——— [AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT] The facilities wear off a bit. Can see some minor parts (toilet bowl) chipped off, and toilet door is hard to close (need to push / pull very hard for the door latch to fit) but overall not impacting the staying experience as it is clean and in good location. (Might want to consider replacing the toilet seat cover in the lobby restroom?) ——— ——— ——— [OVERALL] Definitely one of my top choices for Melaka accommodation."

"The hotel is well-situated near some quaint coffee shops & sarabat shops with authentic Malaysian food. 😋😋 There’re stalls which open at night too. The hotel staff are all cheery & very helpful. I had called Housekeeping for an extra firm pillow & it was delivered in less than 10 minutes. 💫 Breakfast is also excellent with a wide variety & it is of good quality as well. "Hotel and room was great at the price point, just unfortunate didn't manage to get any early check-in on the day of arrival. In fact, only got keys to room 15 mins after the standard check-in time. Apart from that, enjoyed the balcony in the room and the large bathtub too. Buffet Breakfast was great with a wide selection of food. Hotel is also located within walking distance with good food options. Oh, another thing. Love the pool, that actually comes with sea salt rather than the usual chlorine, which does more wonders for hair and skin than the chlorine would."
