Tring-on-Tor
Tring-on-Tor is perfectly located on the hillside overlooking the town of Matlock and towards the hills beyond. The traditional stone cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and has all the amenities required for a comfortable self-catering stay. The south-facing patio at the front of the cottage has a table and chairs and is a lovely place from which to soak up the sun and enjoy the views in the warm summer months.
Walking in through the front door guests will find the living room with characterful open fire which can be lit in the cooler Autumn and Winter months along with enough seating for four people and a television. Through the door can be found the kitchen with its traditional stove cooker positioned under the fireplace and the dining table. With the traditional cottage layout, guests will find the bathroom located at the rear of the property on the ground floor which comes with a shower over bath, WC and basin.
Both bedrooms can be found upstairs with the master bedroom coming with plenty of drawer storage. Guests will absolutely love waking up here, opening the curtains of a morning and looking out at the incredible countryside views. The second bedroom is arranged as a twin.
At the rear of the property, through a door leading off the kitchen is the rear garden.
There is free, on-street parking for Tring-on-Tor. While the cottage itself is located down a narrow cul-de-sac with not much room for turning, we recommend parking on Cavendish Road near to the entrance to Rockside Steps.
Tring-on-Tor is ideally positioned for guests to access the town of Matlock as well as explore the Peak District National Park. Matlock grew up around the ancient stone bridge that crosses the Derwent. Its lovely riverside setting in a steep wooded gorge, is always spectacular, whatever the weather. The town has many interesting shops to browse, with a range of independent outlets. There are also plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants, offering a wide range of refreshments from coffee and snacks to full meals. Matlock outdoor market is held on each Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. A farmers market is also held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Many events and festivals are held in the town throughout the year, including a Victorian Christmas weekend on the first week of December.

Thoroughly enjoyed it here and would definitely recommend.
The property had a very homely feel. Clean and tidy.
The stairs are a little steep and the steps outside could get a little slippery.

Good location and friendly neighbours. Doors in bad condition, especially the front door which on one occasion jammed shut, imprisoning us inside - had to climb out of the window at some peril. A real fire hazard. Insufficient towels and toilet paper for a 4 - person 4-day stay. Television barely worked, patchy reception

Perfect retreat
The cottage was lovely as a retreat although was a bit difficult to reach for someone with joint problems. Very peaceful, quiet and cosy with very pleasant neighbours.
Enjoyed my stay.
The kitchen pan scrub was not a new one....
There was no outside caddy for food waste, so bags had to be left on the ground outside the back door.
Neighbourhood cat cried outside most days.

Lovely cottage for a stay in Matlock
The cottage was well located in a peaceful spot with great views, a short walk from Matlock. The cottage was homely and the beds particularly comfy!!
A tea pot and some type of coffee making option would be a nice touch. More comfortable seating options in the lounge would also improve the comfort of a stay here.

Pleasant
The view
I found it impossible to use the lower key - glad my husband could use it. Downstairs loo was a challenge in the night.

Appalling directions. We headed to this property at about 11 pm after a day working in the area. The postcode supplied initially sends you up into a dead end in housing estate, then when you've driven around a bit and it recentres it takes you to a road that is not mentioned in the directions, Wellington Road. After half an hour of driving around in the dark and rain, we headed for home.

Needs some attention
Great view from the house and it's a good location to get to places around Derbyshire. The neighbours were chatty and warm. The kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfy too
The weather was getting cold and we decide to switch on the heating. It's very noisy and doesn't reach the radiators upstairs and only half the bathroom one. There's hell of a draught from around the front door, and when it rained the water came in under the back door. The crockery and cutlery needed washing, which we did before use. The bathroom needs a good scrub. This property needs some care and attention.

Lovely cosy property for an Autumn break in the Peak District

An excellent base location to explore the area. Clean and safe , nice quiet sleep .
A good location as everywhere is within 30 minutes away . A safe environment to stay in with family. The walk downhill to the town is ok, walk back up is steep but a quick call to a taxi and for a mere £4 you're back up there.

Nice cottage with stunning views
Nice clean and bright terrace cottage with amazing views. Lovely neighbours and nice and quiet. Good internet access and the local pub, The Duke Of Wellington was vey welcoming with great food. Just a short stroll away. Great fish and chips just down the steps which work up your appetite walking back up.
Road into town and back is steep
