Great Nostalgic hotel, beautifully appointed rooms and the location was perfect to visit the city of Edinburgh.

Really great hotel and fantastic stay, beds were slightly firm but mostly comfortable. The walls are very thin especially if you’re next door to a hen party, but breakfast is included and the hotel is in an amazing location close to all the attractions for a reasonable price. The shower was also one of the best showers myself and my partner have ever encountered in a hotel. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for having us!

I don’t write many reviews. In this case, I am writing a review because guests should be aware of what you are getting. 2 main problems. 1-The mattresses on the beds are very old, sag in the middle, and are very uncomfortable. They need to be replaced. The pillows were thinner than the sweatshirt I ended up using because it was more comfortable. In 2 nights with 4 people showering each day, we only had continuous hot water for 1 of the 8 showers. Clearly, the hot water heater is undersized and runs out when a couple of showers are taken in OTHER rooms. I told the on-site manager and he said I didn’t know how to work the shower control. I most certainly did and he demanded to show me otherwise (even though my daughter was sleeping in the room). I told him never mind and booked at another hotel so 2 family members could have a decent night’s sleep and a hot shower. If this hotel was a 1-star hotel, I would have understood. This was nowhere close to a 3-star hotel. Final note for background purposes. Some travelers were checking in when we were checking out and they were getting a cup of coffee in the kitchen area. The on-site manager stopped them and said “your breakfast is tomorrow, not today.” If they are that stingy and unwelcoming as a property, how do you think they approach everything else?
