"This hotel is 5 stars! Loved it. It is super clean, the rooms are quiet and cozy. The bathroom is spacious and meticulously cleaned (something that I personally appreciate). The check in was easy and automated through the official website and when I arrived the staff provided me with keys, charged the city taxes and showed me the iconic places in a brochure. The breakfast is amazing, fresh and high quality food and fruit. The sourdough bread was amazing! The decoration and the buffet area is well curated to take breakfast or even get relaxed by the afternoon. Thanks a lot! I definitely will stay in again. "

"Staff members Yves, Ciro and Karen at the front desk were friendly, efficient and helpful, especially with making our Spa reservations. The young woman in breakfast was also very friendly and attentive and makes a lovely cappuccino! Room 353 was spacious and quiet. Very nice bathroom and lovely towel heater. There was an unpleasant smell in the room when we first entered but it dissipated after we opened the windows for a few hours and didn’t return during the remainder of our visit. Bed was very comfortable, quality linens, nice amenities. Items in minibar are complimentary. Breakfast was delicious! Fresh-squeezed orange juice, tasty pastries and breads, Bircher muesli was very good. Room is gorgeous! Location near the train station was very convenient! Very quiet and a great place to base yourself at for exploring Basel by tram with the free Basel transport ticket provided by the hotel. Sauna and kniepp pool in the spa were a welcome treat each night after our long days of exploring Basel’s museums. Very clean. Massages also available but we didn’t use that service. If you’re looking for a wonderful family-owned hotel in a great location and comfortable rooms with delicious breakfast, look no farther than the Gaia. Will stay here again when we return to Basel! "

"Kitchen is excellent - so nice to have a kettle for tea and a big refrigerator that actually works well!! Much appreciated. Could you please consider having one more chair in the room and take away the rickety little café-chair? There is a good desk and good table, but nowhere to sit and work for longer than a few minutes and nowhere to sit and relax for a while. You used to have soft chairs and and a chair for working on my laptop. Please bring those back."
