Room was clean and quiet and staff were friendly and efficient. In the winter - know that when you first get into the room it will be hot - but you can turn on the air-conditioner and a fan (and open the window) to keep it cool. The shared bath is ok - two toilet closed stalls - very sparse but fine. If you were in a college dorm this might feel familiar. Good location - felt safe and the area around the hotel was clean. Recommend for the adventurous who don't need a lot of space or their own bathroom.

I stayed in a single "cabin" room which is a good description and the photos are accurate. It is a clean, quiet, place to sleep and has a shared bath down the hall. It is what people used to do all the time - small rooms, shared bath, and you go out to socialize. Convenient to the Whitney, Chelsea Market and fancy stores - I was smitten with this hotel that is more like a shipboard experience - and at half the price of most other nearby places. Not for everyone, but I liked it.

Rooms were dirty, tired and impossibly small. The hallways smelt of stale urine. Sketchy characters seemed to have taken up residence there. There was zero customer service and overall felt worse than the cheapest hostel. There is a new owner and half the hotel has been turned into some private club. Before this takeover I stayed here a dozen times and always loved it. Now it is definitely neglected and down in the dumbs. Do NOT stay here!!
