60th Birthday celebrations
A great little cottage with plenty of amenities, however disappointed to only have 2 wine glasses and 4 mugs for a group of 6 ladies, who all love wine and all love tea, which made it very challenging and annoying. Would recommend for anybody looking to venture to sherwood forest area, as very close to sherwood forest visitor centre. a great Italian restaurant in the village too, 100 yards from the cottage, which was lovely. all in all a great cottage and wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.

Lovely cottage
Really lovely cottage, just missing a few of the small touches. No salt and vinegar for example or cooking oil. Not enough cutlery for 6 guests, you can not alter the temp of the showe, it no longer turns. I would still visit again, but just a few little touches would make it so much nicer. I have a few holiday homes and I stay in all of them at least once every 6 months, just so I can really see what is needed.

Upside down house
The property is not suitable for the very young or old as the stairs are steep doors very low.The kitchen upstairs sitting room down stairs, makes it impossible to take a tray of tea down.We couldn’t find how to turn heating up.It was mild so not a big problem.Only 4 mugs and 4 wine glasses.Beds very comfortable and clean. No welcome pack.Only 1 bath towel per person no hand towels.Bathroom got wet through when showering,no mop to clean up the water.

What a lovely and quirky home away from home to stay in. Location was key as we were racing the Outlaw X at Thoresby Park so this was perfect. Shops and restaurants are very close by which made things easier. The accommodation itself was lovely, very quirky with lots of character. The doors heights upstairs are a little on low side (a few bumped heads) but added to the feel. The 3 bedrooms are really spacious and lovely. The bathroom was also large and with a big shower and jacuzzi bath, what more could you want. My ONLY complaint would of be with the lovely, picturesque church opposite. It chimed at random intervals and played a rather annoy tune randomly twice in every hour. And before you say it NOT on the half hour or the hour. But that is marginal and I enjoyed the stay and accommodation so much that if I was to every come back to race or to visit the nearby attractions then I would definitely be looking to secure this property again. Also the letting agents were fantastic.

Full of character, with everything you need. Fully equipped kitchen, smart tv (for netflix), plus games, dvd's etc. Lovely Italian restaurant on the doorstep too! The lack of outside space is reflected in the competitive price and there is a field about a minutes walk away for the dog. Would recommend this cottage.

A great little cottage with bags of character
A great cottage in the center of the village, walking distance to a couple of great restaurants. The cottage had a lot of thoughtful accessories, from cooler to blankets and wood for the fire. The church chimes were hardly noticeably and didn't disturb our sleep. The beds were very cosy and there were plenty of towels provided. I was especially looking forward to the Jacuzzi bath, featured in the photos, as I'd ran a local half marathon the morning we checked in and was disappointed it wasn't working. Still, lovely deep bath for a soak, although the dial to raise the plug had come away from the bath and so the plug had to be prised with finger nails to empty water. This and a few other minor issues: the door knob fell off the kitchen door, a latch fell off the living room door, the knob was not attached to the heated towel rail, the soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken, and the remote thermostat was no where to be found so we couldn't adjust the heat and it was a bit chilly in the morning made the cottage feel a little uncared for. On the upside, there was a lovely fire in one of the living rooms, which was lovely on a night time (although the door that leads directly outside from the living room could befit from a drought excluder). There was tea, coffee and sugar provided, but the coffee was instant and a mix of a various left overs and there was no ground coffee for the coffee maker, which was a shame. Finally, there was a the lack of communication by the owner and property manager. I messaged the owner, with no response. I also contacted the office to ask where the remote thermostat was located (it wasn't in the living room as it stated in the manual) and the office told me Kelly would call me back, but I didn't get a return call. Overall a lovely cottage in a lovely area and at a reasonable rate, but I am not sure we'd return.

Cottage comfy but unusual layout!
We enjoyed our stay at Bluebell cottage once we got used to going upstairs to the kitchen and ducking through the doorways ! Being 4’11” I had no problem!! It was well furnished and comfortable with tv’s galore. . We found the stairs a bit awkward but I suppose they add to its charm. It’s an excellent base to see roundabout.

My family of 5 had an amazing stay at this quirky cottage. Booking and check in were both easy and pleasant. The cottage itself is lovely and has all amenities you need for your duration. The log burner is a great addition. The kitchen is equipped with everything from microwave to tin opener. Bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable. The cottage itself is in a great location central to getting to some many interesting landmarks. We have a perfect getaway and will definitely return. Thank you so much

delightful cottage in a handy location.
We enjoyed our short stay in this comfortable property. It is really well located for exploring Sherwood Forest and other attractions. We had a very good meal at Bella Vista and a BBQ by the river, supplied by the host with a wonderful trolley to transport everything. Coffee machine was excellent as was the espresso pot so answered everyone's coffee needs! Could have done with a few cleaning products to keep the kitchen tidy and do odd bits of washing up instead of always using the dishwasher. Expect that it would be a very cosy place to stay in the winter.

Beautiful quirky cottage close to Sherwood Pines.
We chose this cottage for it's close proximity to Sherwood Pines (a post GCSE cycling break for my son... we wanted to hit the trails of the forest for some mountain biking fun). Everything in the property was exactly as listed, clean, homely and with all the kitchen essential we needed, but with a number of pubs/restaurants on the doorstep we did eat out a fair bit. The location of the cottage itself is excellent, in the pretty village of Old Ollerton with the picturesque river running near by. Supermarkets (should you need them) are also within close proximity. All in all the cottage was perfect for our purposes and exceeded all expectations. N.B. Due to the age & quirky nature of this property the stairs are very steep, a few of the doors are also very low. My son (6ft3) and I (5ft 8) are both tall but soon got used to ducking so didn't find this a problem.

Bluebell cottage
We stayed at bluebell cottage with some friends and our children. We encountered a few issues which were dealt with and resolved quickly. The house is well situated and presented. It comes with little extras such as washing tablets and dish washer tablets. Tea towels etc Travelling with children we found the house set up a little odd which wasn’t in the description. The kitchen is upstairs meaning all food shopping needs to be taken upstairs and food preparation is upstairs. There are also 2 sets of stairs. That wrap around a corner that’s quite steep. The bedrooms were very large and comfortable. The kitchen well stocked with everything you’d need to cook. And the living areas and bathrooms were clean and inviting There is no garden. It says you can take pets but there would be nowhere loose for them to roam. There is however a small memorial area adjacent with benches and grass that’s perfect for a dog to use. There are table and chairs so you can sit out the front. But that is on the pavement. The clock chimes every quarter of the hour. You hardly notice it. I would recommend to family and friends. But non with small children due to the placement of the kitchen and having to be up and down the stairs so frequent. We managed by mostly staying upstairs. The master bedroom has ample floor space which we set up as a play area. The children played puzzles and coloured at the kitchen table in the next room. All the rooms had a tv which was useful for putting on music and children’s programmes There are plenty of amenities near by. Tesco, Asda, McDonald’s and petrol stations all within 10 minutes drive We visited the local farm - white post farm. Which I would recommend. And Rufford abbey.

Very clean. Quality furniture and bedding very cosy.
Well presented and very cosy. Very well equipped and good quality furniture and bedding etc. Anyone who is very tall may struggle with the very low door frames but we were fine. The stairs are challenging if you have any mobility issues and the kitchen is upstairs so could be tricky but again we were fine. A really nice cottage. Good location. Thankyou.

Lovely Quirky Property but soooo noisy.
If they had told us the church clock right across the road chimed every quarter of an hour 24/7 we would not have booked. Did not get much sleep during our week there. Everything else was ok apart from the hobbit doors. Even my wife had to bend to access the doors and if you forgot to duck you were rewarded with a headache.

Thank you for your review. We know the cottage is quirky and has cottage sized door openings. They are low but we think this adds to the charm of the cottage. The doors cannot be altered without listed building consent. Our refurbishment had a signwriter write “duck or dive” and “bump or grind” above two of the doorways to prevent heads being bumped. The Church forms the conservation area in the village. The Church clock does chime and the bells ring for Sunday morning service and weddings. We think that the Church clock bells are part of the voice of the village but accept that they may disturb sleep, particularly if you are not used to hearing clock chimes and not everyone may like them. We thank you for your review which has given the opportunity for people to anticipate if this will be an issue for them.

A quirky wee cottage beautifully renovated to a high standard
I stayed here with my husband, our two children and my parents. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very well equipped in the kitchen with everything you could need for self catering. Nicely surprised with the addition of tea, coffee, soap and toilet rolls. Comfy beds and lots of tvs! The fishing nets supplied were fantastic to keep the kids entertained down by the river! My only suggestion would be to pack some earplugs though as the church across the road chimes every 15minutes including throughout the night!!!

Very good but lacked some basic essentials.
The cottage location and style were delightful and certainly suited our needs. However we were disappointed that: - on arrival most of the crockery was still in the dishwasher; - there was no soap in neither the kitchen nor bathroom; - no kitchen roll - only one tea towel - no bath towels - only large hand towels - nasty smell from kitchen sink plug hole - we usually have welcome packs on arrival. There is tea and coffee but milk would have been nice. - family members were staying in nearby b&b’s and all had luxury toiletries and a welcome pack of milk biscuits and fruit The door handle to the lower lounge is broken and almost unusable. The door latch in the largest bedroom could be fixed with one screw. The picnic and fishing nets are a really lovely idea but with a bit of extra effort at minimal cost as outlined above the cottage could be exceptional.

Dear David, Thank you for your review and comments. However, I was disappointed to hear that a few things would have made your stay even better. I have today spoken with our cleaning company and raised your issues as it is part of their remit to make sure the soap dispensers are full and there is plenty of kitchen roll and tea towels left out for our guests. I also apologise that most of the crockery was still in the dishwasher – the cleaners leaving before the cycle was finished. I will now be conducting regular spot checks to make sure all of the above doesn’t happen again in the future. Regarding laundry. A local company supply all our laundry and 6 hand and 6 bath towels are left for each booking. Thank you for highlighting the door handle problem. I was not aware of this or the door latch in the largest bedroom. Both will be fixed immediately. We are pleased that you otherwise enjoyed your stay at Blue Bell Cottage and hope you will be back again the future. Regards, Julie

Comfortable, relaxing but quirky cottage with lovely decor
The cottage is as stated above but for our party there were two downsides - the stairs and the dining/kitchen being up those stairs. Three of our party of five had slight mobility issues and having to negotiate those stairs just to get a cup of tea, let alone bring it downstairs to the lounge was a very inconvenient. On the upside Bluebell Cottage is ideally situated for lots of places of interest to suit all ages .

Fantastic Weekend Break!
Our family of 5 had a really enjoyable stay at the end of August. Really appreciated the tvs in each bedroom and the further 3 one in each reception room and kitchen!
