We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. We got a suite and the room was huge compared to most rooms in Japan. It overlooked the river which was an added plus.

The property got a long history with great view of Shinano River, conventional design with larger room size comparing to modern hip hotel. Their breakfast is excellent, with a variety of local produce, a must try. Front desk is friendly and helpful, thanks to Mr Chan who initiated to assist in forwarding a delayed package to Tokyo.

Great location on the river bank. The facilities felt outdated but still fairly well maintained. Room was large and had a nice view of the Bandai bridge. Got a cold on Sado island but I had a really nice sleep back to Niigata and felt completely recharged. Super kind and attentive staff. Parking is a bit pricy at the hotel but I had no problems finding plenty of parking lots nearby.

The hotel is just a short walk from the station on the other side of the river. If you are unable to work, as we were due to an injury to my wife's knee, there were always taxis to take you wherever you wanted to go. This is a luxury hotel and the standard matches that. Staff always very welcoming and helpful, and offered my wife a wheel chair for use in the hotel if she needed it. I would have no hesitation in going back to the hotel again. Also of note is that this hotel is an evacuation centre in the event of a tsunami, so a safe place to stay.
