Great North Hotel

"The roomwas clean and fresh smelling same with the corridors as most hotels have a funky smell in corridors ,the staff I can't praise enough everybody that works there are polite and cheery and shout out to gentleman staff member who was outside on Sunday morning who helped put my luggage in my boot. Check in smooth and quick this was our forth week's stay here ,love hotel and position to Newcastle and beyond,talking to other people who stopped there they said food in three mile inn was lovely I haven't tried so can't comment"

"Nice room. Good breakfast. Food in bar in evening also good and reasonably priced. Very big queue to check in due to coach parties arriving. No strategy for dealing with customers not on the coach and we had to queue for 15 minutes with no apology. Have to pay for pool and towels."

"Accurate property description and photos. Quiet roads - easy to turn into and out of Netherton Colliery and the 'main road' isn't close enough for noise to be an issue indeed, the location is exceptionally quiet for somewhere with a town and village nearby. Watching swifts swooping over the field of ripening wheat at the rear watching horses and rabbits in the field at the front. Plenty of well-used walking routes on the doorstep. Within easy reach of beautiful beaches, several National Trust/English Heritage properties, the newly reopened Northumberland Line train route into Newcastle, etc. The towel in the kitchen was adequate for drying hands but it would be helpful to have at least one tea towel - we were glad we brought one. The dishcloth was a J-cloth cut in half (or smaller?) - only just about adequate but understandable because presumably they're thrown away after each stay. On one warm weekday with the bedroom (at the front) window open, was disturbed by aircraft taking off around 05:50 from Newcastle Airport - the wind direction probably didn't help and it wasn't an issue for the ensuite double bedroom (at the rear). Track beyond the property (used to turn around) is very rough in one place - not sure if that's a local authority issue or if it's a private road..."

"This is an unbelievable place to stay. We stayed 4 nights and were sad to leave. The carriage has been done up to such a high standard; warm and spacious shower, comfy bed, high-quality kitchen, spotless presentation. The WI-FI worked excellently and the trains don't disturb if the windows are shut, and are fun to watch from the outside if that's your thing. If I'm giving two pieces of advice it's 1) it's very remote, you MUST have a car to visit and be prepared to drive to places. 2) We visited in Feb so we did expect this but it was cold. The radiators in the bedrooms and bathroom/shower are excellent and the rooms were toasty, but the main living space and kitchen were very cold at times. This didn't diminish the stay though and we'd recommend to anybody thinking of staying."

"Clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, kitchen area offered a microwave, kettle and fridge with plenty of cutlery and crockery. Despite being close to the road the room was surprisingly quiet. Good location for exploring Bedlington and surrounding areas."
