"Lovely stay over on a long journey "

"My second stay at the Portland Hotel, Ashington and once again, they excelled. Staff could not be more friendly and welcoming (Jess and the guy behind the bar, sorry I forgot your name) looked after me very well. Room (I stayed in one of the rooms out back in the purpose built rooms) was lovely. Great to have a fridge in the room and a very comfy bed. Kept beautifully clean (Thanks housekeeping) and contained everything a traveller could want in a hotel room. Desk space, plenty of power sockets - I’m a very large bloke (six foot six inches tall) and struggled to get my legs under the desk but that’s MY problem, not the Portland Hotel. It certainly didn’t stop me working 👍 Food in the pub / restaurant was great. Good sized portions and well cooked. Speedy service too. The Portland Hotel has now become my ‘go to’ hotel whenever I’m back in the North East. Book direct for special deals! (Ask for Kaliffa or Mack) "

"All staff were excellent, super friendly and helpful, I'd booked an attic room but seeing my husband on crutches they immediately swapped us into a first floor room which I think was an upgrade as it had a huge freestanding copper bath and Chesterfield sofa as well as a king (or maybe super king) sized bed. Despite the room not having been planned for use, everything was clean and fully stocked which was impressive. Bed extremely comfy, didn't want to leave! Breakfast being included was great, good choice of hot food options plus offered hot drinks, juices and water; everything was fresh and delicious. We'll be back as hadn't realised they stopped serving food at 5pm on a Sunday so didn't get to try the pheasant dish from their weekly specials menu I'd been looking forward to but ideally placed for other restaurants, pubs and bars (would The Hoptimist next door for craft ale and very friendly service) "

"The property is lovely, clean and well decorated and has everything you need. The only issue we had was with the next door neighbours gate banging which caused our dog to keep barking as she thought someone was at the door."

"Swan Studios is perfect when visiting family and friends. Its self contained so can come and go without worry. Rooms are clean with a fridge and microwave if needed. We have stayed here now on several occasions and the standard has been the same. Looking forward to our next stay"

"The accommodation would have been suitable for us if it had been maintained regularly. We couldn’t use the freezer because it was frozen shut. The light in the bathroom needed a new bulb and the smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling.We had to call the owner to ask how to turn the heater on. The carpet needed cleaning There was 1 glass, no dishwashing liquid and no hand soap.The whole place needed a good clean.The backyard was putrid."

"The house has been refurbished and is in excellent condition. New kitchen and bathroom with plenty of hot water, comfy beds and plenty of wardrobe space. Only slight issue was, my mum in law is in her 80s and a stair rail would of helped her."
